The Streaming Revolution

From Theaters to Living Rooms

By BHASKARPublished about a year ago 2 min read

Introduction

There was a time when we had to rush to the theatre to catch a newly released movie or to wait for DVDs to arrive. But now, over the past few years, the way we watch movies has changed significantly due to the rise of streaming platforms. It has made our lives easier to watch thousands of movies and TV shows on different platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, and many more, sitting at home anytime and anywhere we want.

A new way to watch Movies

Streaming platforms have changed the way we watch movies; they have allowed viewers to access films or shows with the help of the internet, often through the pack of subscriptions. With the help of a few clicks, you can watch everything just by sitting on the couch. This convenience has revolutionized the way people consume entertainment. There is no hurry to purchase or to stand in a long queue to buy expensive cinema tickets—just simply sit and watch your favourite movies and shows, and that’s it.

And in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, these platforms have increased even further. When theatres were shut, these streaming platforms became the top-listed priority to consume entertainment, and even many new movies were directly released on these platforms to pass the time.

The Benefits of Streaming

The vast selection of content is only available on these streaming platforms; what do you want to watch—a romantic comedy, a gripping documentary, or an action-packed thriller? Everything is available here, just select, sit, and enjoy. Streaming services also produce their own original content, like Netflix’s Stranger Things, Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys, Hotstar’s Criminal Justice, and much more; honestly, I will get tired if I start listing the contents.

Furthermore, streaming platforms have made movies more accessible. In the remote areas where they can’t enjoy cinemas, they just simply get access through these streaming platforms with the help of an internet connection. It has made life a little bit easier for entertainment. Plus, the addition of dubbing and subtitle options has made some foreign films and TV series available that certain viewers like to watch.

The Future of Cinema

We all know that streaming platforms have changed the way we used to watch movies, but they generated discussion on the future of traditional movie theatres. Some people fear that movie theatres may become outdated due to the simple accessibility of streaming platforms. But a lot of people think that sharing the experience of viewing films on a huge screen will always have a place.

Conclusion

But in the end, streaming platform services have made it easier to access movies and enjoy films from all over the world. The way we used to watch movies may have changed, but the love for cinema will always remain as strong as ever.
