Sometimes, movies extend beyond 3 hours by adding subplots and dramatic highs and lows. While some movies don't have music in the script, without music, every Bollywood movie is incomplete.

If we look at Hollywood, they often stick to time and structured storytelling, with most films averaging between 90 to 120 minutes. Sometimes, they also move from the track, but some movies take two times to watch to understand the plot. The narrative is usually fast-paced, with plot progression, and often ends with cliffhanger endings to set up sequels. Bollywood movies are also doing the same, making sequels with cliffhanger endings. Both industries are in the same lane; their narrative may be different, but whatever the narrative is it entertains the audience.

Productions

With different narrative styles, this is where both Bollywood and Hollywood compete with each other. In the past years, Bollywood productions have been making huge, expensive films, and the budgets are shocking. Take the example of the recent film Kalki 2898 AD. during its theatrical run of over 50 days, the film grossed approximately ₹1,027–1,200 crore worldwide against a production budget of ₹600 crore, which makes it the most expensive Bollywood movie. While Hollywood films, particularly those in the action, sci-fi, and superhero genres, have huge budgets. The famous Marvel film Avengers: Endgame (2019) was made on a budget of $356 million and collected $858 million in the domestic box office. There are also many other films, like Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) and Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom (2018), which made $416 and $432 million, respectively. With those huge numbers, we can say that both Bollywood and Hollywood are in a race to make the most expensive films, and by those numbers, anyone can say that their battle will be legendary.

Cultural Representation and Global Appeal

While Bollywood films have more Indian audiences, but we can see that they are growing international fans too, Hollywood produces their films with a global market in mind. Hollywood's storytelling is often more universal and also appeals to diverse cultures because of multinational casts and multilingual accessibility. Many Bollywood actors have worked in Hollywood films and vice versa. Famous Bollywood films like Dangal (2016) and RRR ( 2022) have gained global recognition and international acclaim, the song "Naatu Naatu" from RRR (2022) has own Academy Award for Best Original Song. Moreover, it was the first Indian song to win an Oscar in this category. It shows the power of storytelling that is deeply rooted in Indian traditions.
