Michael Caine portrayed Alfred J. Pennyworth in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. He is one of only five actors to appear in all three films.
In Pennyworth we go back to an alternate 1950s Britain ravaged by extreme right and left wing groups, corrupt royalty and politicians.
Alfred is ex-SAS and sets up his own security company. Jack Bannon is a 26 year old Londoner channeling Michael Caine to a tee.
I didn't know what to expect from this but it is dark and has instances of misogyny, racism, extreme violence, and blood, and a lot of guns. There are humorous sections but you have to prepare yourself for a rough ride.
This runs a vague parallel to "Gotham" which I also enjoyed with similar caveats, except the locations are mostly real.
Alfred becomes involved with Thomas Wayne, Bruce's father and you know the eventual outcome of that.
I am six episodes into this series and it has far exceeded my expectations so far.
There are thirty episodes spread over three series.
If you like "Batman" and "Gotham" this may be for you, but be warned it is an exhilarating and rough ride.

I'm not into any kinda superhero stuff, so this isn't for me. I'm happy you're enjoying it
Both look intriguing to me.
Cool. A backstory on Alfred <3
This series does sound interesting, but I am not really into Batman. I did watch the old comic book version of Batman and Robin when I was a kid in the early 70's. Good job.
Ooh, sounds interesting! I watched a few seasons of Gotham and enjoyed them so this definitely sounds up my alley.
Seems right up my street can’t wait for this one. So brilliantly written ♦️🏆✍️♦️
