My Thoughts On House MD

I Am Six Episodes In, One Hundred And Seventy To Go

House

Introduction

I was looking for a new series to watch, and there are a lot to choose from, and some of the biggies that I have seen all the way through are Dexter and Supernatural both of which I enjoyed.

I had heard that House was good and you can check out the IMDB and Wikipedia entries here:

The Concept

It is actually a twist on the detective story, except the criminal is a medical condition and the detectives are the doctors and hospital staff.

House is a Sherlock Holmes character complete with musicianship (Hugh is an accomplished piano player) and drug addiction. House is a great character but obnoxious to almost everyone and you often feel he needs a good slapping down, but it does make him incredibly watchable.

House is very similar to Johnny Lee Miller's Sherlock in "Elementary", a brilliant mind, but unbelievably rude to everyone in his life although there is a lot of love and care for those who are close, but sometimes it does not show. There is an emphasis on solving the case and getting things right by whatever means there are, whether they stay within conventional lines or not.

Conclusion

House is excellent and I am looking forward to seeing the series through to completion. "Elementary" is also excellent.

Check out the links and videos I have shared and you may come to the same positive conclusion that I did.

I always enjoyed House and anything else Hugh Laurie was in as well (I'm particularly fond of his character in Sense and Sensibility, 1995). House has an interesting premise, to be sure. Nice article highlighting this wonderful series.

Oh, you are in for a real treat. Hugh makes this show great.

I watched House years ago, and it was mostly good. I did enjoy the character of House himself, as well as the interactions with his friend whose name I can't recall (an oncologist, I believe).

What I loved about House was his ability not to care what people thought of his ideas, he was confident. I haven't watched Elementary, but love the books on Holmes so maybe I need to try. If you enjoyed both of these, you might find Person of Interest to your liking.

I'm watching Elementary right now! We haven't gotten very far; we're still on season 1, but I like it a lot.

I have seen all the seasons of both of these series and wish they would bring back Elementary. I love Sherlock Holmes mysteries and read quite a bit of them for this series the cases take from the original. House is just interesting and medically speaking who knows.

I tend to stay from medical criminal dramas, but I did love Elementary, thank you for your review, I’ll give it some consideration.

I always thought he was a jerk. But, in retrospect, I was just jealous. Lol

Great intro to House! We loved House when we binged it a few years ago and I always loved the Sherlock connection of House/Holmes and Wilson/Watson. Also, funny story that Hugh Laurie when he auditioned, had them believing he was actually American. As I believe he did the accent for the entire audition, not just to show he could land it! He's a jerk, but a loveable jerk in the show and annoying because he's usually right haha! Great piece, Mike!

  • I've never watched House before. Enjoy this series Mike!
