Flag Day
What is Flag Day? Flag Day is the day where citizens can display their American flag and show how proud they are of their country and the freedom to do this. It is a day of respect for all flags in a sense. The stripes on the flag stand for if I remember correctly: red for the blood that was drawn in defending the flag, white for the souls who gave their lives for the flag and the blue is for the battlefields that were fought on over the years. The stars are for all the states. Flag Day is a day to be remembered not for having picnics but just to remember what the flag means.

Juneteenth
What is Juneteenth? This is a holiday describing the end of slavery in a way for some. There was a time that some plantation owners gave certain freedoms to their slaves. Some saw ways to improve their standard of living and learned what it took to become free and learn to read and write for there were black schools even though they were well hidden, but for some learning gave them a chance to be FREE in a way. To be honest I am not sure about this for I was trying to remember from a program I remember watching a while ago. Juneteenth is kind of controversial depending on circumstances and what you may believe. We all need to feel free and to show understanding of all. The Lord Jesus made us all in his image whether black, white, red or yellow.

"Home"
"Home" at the Todd Haimes Theatre was originally brought to Broadway in 1980 after a stint at the Negro Ensemble Company the year prior. Written by Samm-Art Williams (who died just before previews begun), follows the life of Cephus Miles (Tory Kittles) as he moves back and forth in his life from the late 1950's to the present. As people move away from Cross Roads, North Carolina, a farm area, workers are difficult to find, family members have passed, but he loves the land;" loves the black sod beneath his feet". Even though he works in a mill during the winter months, he lives for the days that he is able to work the land. From tobacco, corn and other crops, this is what gives Cephus the most pleasure.

Mowing
How old is too6 old to expect the younger generation to start taking over lawn mowing chores. I like cutting grass, but at 60 years of age and cutting grass since I was 12 years of age it does seem to get old at times. Lawn care does make your yard look good when keeping the weeds down and planting flowers, especially roses and a few others. But, in very hot and humid conditions it is not a chore that I relish doing every week.

"It's like someone remade Rain Man and actually put some effort into it."
The earliest known movie with an autistic character was the 1969 Elvis Presley movie Change of Habit, which included child actress Lorena Kirk as an autistic girl named Amanda. When most people think of the earliest depictions of autism, however, they often think of Dustin Hoffman's Oscar-winning performance as the titular character in 1989's Rain Man. This was the first mainstream movie about autism, and it introduced the condition to a wider audience. Despite being so groundbreaking at the time, the movie's depiction of autism hasn't aged well. This isn't due to its accuracy; it's due to the fact that countless movies have taken Rain Man's premise and beaten it like a dead horse. Far too many filmmakers have taken the generic plotline of a white autistic male character trying to navigate in a neurotypical world and have run it to the ground. While some movies like 1994's What's Eating Gilbert Grape? have managed to find success in their time, others like 2021's Music (which actually switches out a white boy for basic white girl Maddie Ziegler) are a complete disgrace to the autistic community. With all of these copycats, it seems as though Hollywood can never get autistic representation right. Fortunately, things could be changing.
