Extreme to Extreme
Means Between the two Extremes

Extreme to Extreme
Why does it seem so hard to follow the motto of the Greeks? They believe in the means between the two extremes. We here in America always appear to vacillate amid the extremes whether it be Democrat or Republican. We find ourselves running from one to the other in rapid succession barely catching our collective breaths. Once we do settle on something or someone, we find that it is quite often not what we thought, and we end up with “buyer’s remorse”. I firmly believe that lately we are feeling that way all the more.
I cannot tell you how many times I have heard people say lately, “I did not vote for that”. I have even seen signs with those very words written on them during the many protests that have taken place across America of late. I hear those words echo in my head and I feel the same way. It has been jarring to say the least to see how unorganized things have been in our government and country as a whole. It is not that surprising that if the government is disorganized then our country would be too. Some things are downright frightening and give a glimpse of what it could be like to go down the rabbit hole. Being able to be sent to a foreign prison without due process even if you are an American citizen born and raised is terrifying but it has been said that it could happen. All I can say is…wow!
Let that sink in for a moment and then try not to scream so loud that your head could pop off.
If the previous administration had not pushed the envelope so far out of bounds, then I don’t believe we would have gravitated to another extreme situation. Most people are very familiar with the statement, “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”. So, science basically told us this would happen. It’s too bad we didn’t bother to listen. We have become so used to this type of existence that it appears we don’t know how to live any other way. It perpetuates itself to the point where we are like the mice on the wheel and we struggle to break free.
It is one thing to know what can happen and another thing to live in the situation as it is happening. Being on the rollercoaster and struggling to get off, try as you might is no fun. It shakes and pulls you along as you go up to extreme heights and then drop to the lowest of lows…dragging your mental health, physical health and finances along with it. Everyone has watched their 401K’s do back flips and summersaults before coming to a short rest only to do it all over again once the power brokers speak another word that terrifies everyone. Forget about mental and physical health that is even worse. It is what keeps the doctors, hospitals and psychiatrist so busy trying to keep us out of the grave or the psychiatric ward. I am not sure how well they are doing with those jobs either since they are multi-billion-dollar industries or actually probably up to a trillion dollars by now and that is because they show no signs of slowing down…ouch!
Extreme to extreme is never a place anyone or anything should ever exist. Although beings and things can live under those circumstances, they do so with great stress which threaten to break them or it into a million little pieces. If that is so, we become like the chaff that soon gathers and blows away from the extremity of our own perpetual choices.

The only way to break this cycle is for the American public to truly get tired of the insanity that has gripped our society via the mob and social media and start voting for reluctant politicians. That means people who really don't want to be politicians but do so because they want to enact real change. It is almost like the philosopher kings that Plato talked about. The American public must do their homework on people running for election. I watch the National Desk News which is unbiased, and it is fantastic. That is just my opinion.
You make some good points about the extremes in American politics. It does seem like we're constantly swinging from one side to the other. I've seen it in my own voting choices over the years. It's frustrating when things don't turn out as expected. And that bit about being sent to a foreign prison without due process is really scary. Do you think there's any way to break this cycle of extremes?
