Brassic
For Angela Hepworth's " The Magic of Media" Challenge

Introduction
Warning Farmer Jim's Video is a very sweary nativity scene, but I think it is hilarious.
This is for Angela Hepworth's " The Magic of Media" Challenge which you can check out here:
I had difficulty in choosing this as I have written a few about TV series and films, and I shared one with Angela, but then I recently finished series six of "Brassic" which I thoroughly enjoy, and it does address some serious issues as well as managing to be very funny.
Brassic is a British comedy-drama television series created by Joe Gilgun and Danny Brocklehurst for Sky One. The series follows the lives of Vinnie O'Neill (Gilgun) and his gang of friends in the fictional town of Hawley. Other primary cast members include Michelle Keegan, Damien Molony, Tom Hanson, Aaron Heffernan, Ryan Sampson, Parth Thakerar and Steve Evets.
The term "brassic," meaning penniless or broke, is a Cockney rhyming slang phrase derived from "boracic lint," which rhymes with "skint," meaning penniless.
Brassic
This program always makes me feel good though I would be wary of having most of the characters round to my house, but while everyone is on the wrong side of the law, there is a lot to like, some rough diamonds and even the villains while being scary are entertaining.
Joe Gilgun and Danny Brocklehurst created it for Sky and it gained a lot of plaudits and fans including me. This is a great few words from a Reddit user, and it is on Netflix, but is very North of England (Yorkshire) based geographically and in the language and accents in it.

Throughout the various series in which the gang try to grow weed on Farmer Jim's farm and deal with various gangsters to sell their product while dealing with mental health and family issues but don't let that put you off.
Joe Gilgun as Vinnie is the main man and deals with Dominic West as Doctor Chris Cox with his mental issues while slipping him weed. Chris Cox is also always talking about sex and his exploits.
Ramon Tikaram (Tanita's brother) is the evil drug-dealing gangster Terry McCann who Vinnie manages to put in jail, but that just makes things worse. Terry is very entertaining though. And sends his minions after Vinnie and his mates.
Then there's Farmer Jim (Steve Evets, who needed an acting surname, couldn't think of one so reversed his first name) who is foul-mouthed and always complaining but he will help if forced to. You can see what he is like in the nativity video I included.
Davey MacDonagh (Neil Ashton) is another evil but funny villain who tries to outsmart Terry McCann when he is inside, the scrapes they get into are alternatively disturbing and funny.
The last episode of series six finishes with an "Italian Job" bus cliffhanger.
Conclusion
I could go on and on about this series, maybe it's the familiarity with where it is filmed, and the subjects covered. While at times it can be dark, it more often than not makes you smile and it is full of brilliant characters.
It is not for everyone and I wonder how it would go down across the pond, on the one hand, it may be too English, but I watch lots of American TV series and I don't have a problem with them so I think that if you have access to this on Netflix then you should watch at least one episode, although make sure the kids are in bed.
Thank you so much for reading and I hope you give it a chance. I will leave you with a trailer which I hope you find tempting.
