investigation
Whodunnit, and why? All about criminal investigations and the forensic methods used to search for clues and collect evidence to get to the bottom of the crime.
Two thousand, three hundred and six
The world ended when the phone went straight to voicemail. (It was a Sunday.) Mia Black Earth set the phone on the kitchen counter and stared at it for a moment. She paced the kitchen, alternating between pulling at her bottom lip and chewing on it.

How I Became a Domestic Terrorist
As I begin to write this piece it is 4:30am on a Tuesday morning, and as usual I can’t sleep. Every day around this time, over the last 15 years, I wake up for the same reason. I wake up to my thoughts racing at break neck speed, my eyes watering, reacting to the stabbing pain of a large sliver embedded within my mind, one that affects every aspect of my life and has for years. It is the same sliver that continuously occupies my thoughts, directs my attention, and causes massive amounts of pain, anxiety and restlessness. The righteous anger of injustice is persistent and relentless, it affords me no peace; I haven’t been in a good mood in years. It has been a long time since my family and I had to endure the nightmarish hell that made all this happen…but I am not alone. Everyday people across the country have to come to terms with highly traumatic events that have occurred in their lives, and it is not easy. It is a daily struggle, often one that lasts a lifetime - some memories just don’t fade.

"What Fulfills Me"
“What Fulfills Me” By Adrienne Holland Ever since I was a child, writing has been my escape; whether it be songwriting, poetry or short stories, they have all given me comfort in my darkness. I graduated from college in 2013 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Forensic Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice, but I will never forget my figurative writing professor trying to convince me to change my major. I distinctively remember being told by multiple different instructors how ‘well’ I write. Those words always seemed to go in one ear and out of the other because I never felt that I was good enough, in anything that I did. Although I have sought solace through writing ever since I was old enough to hold a pen, I never felt like my words could impact other people.

Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst Attacks Rape Victim Online...
Dear John Ernst, Mayor of Brookhaven You are the man that attacked a rape victim on LinkedIn. I was raped in Brookhaven in November 2018. I was prevented from reporting it until July 2020 by the Pooler PD because they took copies of the evidence after they left me in my car for over two months, and took my cats as I was on my way to family. The Chatham County Sheriff's department took my Apple Electronics in June 2016 except for an Iphone with the man who raped me confessing he raped me in December 2018.

The Mystery of the Swedish Nanny
Boston, Massachusetts in 1996 was a very different city. The Boston Police Department was struggling with youth violence, specifically the use of guns and homicides. The Boston Gun Project Working Group had begun to meet in January 1995, but Operation Ceasefire had only been implemented a year later in January 1996. There were still attacks around the city, but ultimately, the streets were safer, with a significant decline in homicides that year.
