incarceration
Incarceration, rehabilitation, recidivism: The reality of prison life and what it's like to be an inmate locked up behind bars.
The Weight of Air
Billy shook his head behind the plastic barrier that separated him from his wife in the visitor section of the city jail. He couldn’t believe a word she had just told him, and he let her know as much. “Baby I believe it when you say that Mr. Farley’ll let me come back to work, but I don’t know about the $20,000.”

The Real 60 Days In pt. 1
This is day 14 of a 60 day sentence. I swear that this time right here is going to be the hardest time I ever did. Primarily because I don't feel like I should be here. I mean, I did the crime. but it happened before I had decided to really get my life together. This happened a few months before I went to prison for something that I had already did. Although I'm mad about having to do this time, I can't say that I didn't need it. Funny I should say that right? I came home November 25th 2019 and got active real quick. I'm talking about working, full time in school and involved in a very popular reentry program I am still affiliated with. Thank god for them. I was doing all the right things but I was smoking weed like a Navaho Indian. This the first time I had come home with open cases....I had two of them. What was I thinking? Yeah they were only felony fives, the lowest felony you could get, but with my record I might as well had robbed a gas station at gun point. Both cases are dealt with now. Ill be on probation for the next five years, but I feel the 60 days incarceration on top of probation is a little much- regardless of my criminal history. I'll tell you what.....let me explain my predicament and you tell me what you think, taking a step further - tell me what you would do?

I've Fallen in Love with a Violent Offender
“You are not a rehabilitation center for poorly raised men” is probably one of my absolute favorite sayings of all time. Unfortunately, just like how to do your taxes my high school failed to teach me how to spot relationship red flags but have no fear my friends; I have seen all the red flags by now but then again, I am old. I think that this is a saying that should be framed in the visitation rooms of prisons, but even if it were posted; would it even matter?

The Wrong Man
Ten years on, what enrages me most is the twenty grand. I’d spent 6 years trapped inside those walls. Then, at the end, they walked me to the front gate, patted me on the back and told me to take care. Spend it wisely, a guard joked. They took 6 years of my life and gave me twenty grand.

Released from jail into a world of Pandemia... part 4
So Part 3 I was telling you about how Olivia and I were separated in January 2020. She was still nursing and only 4 and a half months old. Illegal eviction led to me being arrested for a warrant which I was scheduled to meet with the Downtown Austin Community Court about on the upcoming Monday. The police arrested me and witnessed my verbal consent to place my daughter with my biological brother until I got out of jail. I know they planned to let the landlord call crime stopper on me and my husband so that they would not have to take us home with them. My brothers wife then of course not being able to have another baby herself and having just bonded with Olivia on our last trip to La Vernia of course was not going to take my husband home with them. She called crime stopper on him. So we are both arrested Jan. 30th, 2020.

Jailed For Good
I don’t have a bucket list. And if I did, I doubt “Go to jail” would be on it. But when I heard the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office (Minnesota) was offering a night in their new jail to help train staff on procedures and equipment, I was curious. I wanted to take a chance on what seemed like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity (hopefully, anyway).

A Moment at Home
“One for whom the pebble has value must be surrounded by treasures wherever he goes.” – Par Lagerkvist Lester was a drive-up, a new boot, a fish. Right from the first I could tell he was headed for trouble. Not that coming to prison ain’t trouble enough, but once you get inside there’s a different kind of trouble free-world folks know nothing about.

A SMALL TOWN'S HORROR!
Violence comes, like a dark shadowy cloud, bringing with it the stench of death amid public outcries. That's the headline of the story of a little town in Illinois. While the seedier underbelly of the town is something most of us are all too familiar with, what followed the disaster that was the year 2020, has to be the worst start off to a new year the citizens of Galesburg Illinois have endured. This is the true story of how my hometown started off in 2021.

Killer Kids & The Justice System
Kids can be cute; I have 3 that are pretty adorable. I mean, they throw a lot of shade for humans under the age of 10 but that is about it. The teenage years are supposed to get a little “rough” but I can’t imagine any of my children ever killing someone. Unfortunately, though, there are some children that kill and there is a LOT of controversy over what should be done with them regarding punishment.

Invisible Fury 2
Who is worse? The Murderer or the Child Molester? If you had to make a choice on who was worse who would you say was worse? You can only pick one. No other information, just one is a Murderer and the other a Child Molester. Some people would say the Child Molester because they hurt innocent little children. Some people would say the Murderer because they took another person's life. However, in the eyes of the law, a Murderer gets anywhere from 20 years to Life pending what degree. When it comes to a Child Molester, they tend to get no more than 10 years. For a person who got caught and are in prison for only the 2nd time, one got over 40 years for a Robbery with a BB gun, and another got over 60 years for selling drugs under the pressure of their landlord. But hey, that Child Molester will be walking the streets in less than 5 years.
