The Long Shadow
Carl Carter, better known as “Reaper” on the streets, had built a reputation as one of the most ruthless criminals in his city. For years, his name struck fear into anyone who heard it. Drug trafficking, armed robbery, extortion—there wasn’t a crime he hadn’t dabbled in. He saw the law as a game, constantly outsmarting it, and every arrest was just another battle he was determined to win.

On March 13, 1964, Kitty Genovese, a 28-year-old bartender, was viciously raped and murdered outside her Queens apartment. At the time, it was mistakenly stated that 38 neighbours had watched the attack but done nothing to assist her, creating a national debate over the bystander effect. Derek Chauvin is a Racist Murderer: Please Stop Pretending He's Not
You know, I never thought I'd have to write this, because all of this--all of this--goes without saying. Usually, things that go without saying are things that are just common sense; things that everyone knows and we've all seen evidence of. A good example is this following statement:

The True Story of a Woman's Twisted "Midwest Obsession"
Earlier today, I watched a movie known as Midwest Obsession, and I loved every minute of this flick. It's one of those old-school Lifetime-esque movies from the 90s, and while doing my homework for this film, I learned that, like most of Lifetime's old thrillers, this film originally aired on NBC under the title, Beauty's Revenge. I would also later learn that this film is based on a true crime story that took place back in the late 1980s.

The Murder of Heidi Broussard
On Saturday, September 23, 2023, Lifetime aired another one of their true crime films, and I'm glad I watched this, because this was a story I had never heard about until this movie aired. The film, Stolen Baby: The Murder of Heidi Broussard, centered on the titular crime, which occurred on 2019. The culprit was someone who was very close to Heidi: Magen Fieramusca, her longtime best friend.

Amy Bosley: A Twisted Tale of Greed, Deception, and Murder
For the better part of two decades, I've been fascinated with the wave of true crime shows, such as 48 Hours and Dateline, among others. Two of my favorites are Snapped and Deadly Women, mainly because they center around female murderers. Headline News airs another series, Forensic Files, on a daily multi-hour loop, and Peacock happens to have all of the classic episodes. The show tells some twisted true crime tales, and some of them include some unhinged and fiendish villainesses. One episode I ran into very recently centered around one such murderess: Amy Bosley.

Amy Locane: Budding Actress Turned Vehicular Villainess
It's been a while since I wrote a piece like this, mainly because of the sports stories and my other weekly reviews, so I decided to break my hiatus with this story about actress Amy Locane. I actually remember when this broke, and back then, it was quite a fascinating story. I hadn't heard of Amy Locane at the time; all that was said was that she was known for recurring on the original Melrose Place. But as I said, the story is fascinating, and I became more fascinated with it when I re-read the whole thing recently.

Crunch . Content Warning.
I love the sound of a good crunch. I love gravel crunching under tires; It reminds me of the way autumn leaves crunch. It reminds me of the way snow crunches as my foot compacts snow into tighter layers. The sound of something giving way under the pressure of something heavier, stronger.
