The Satanist Who Buried Bodies Behind His House Of Horrors

Even though Pazuzu Algarad filed his teeth into points, sacrificed animals, and rarely had a shower, he had two fiancés who helped him commit several murders in his “House of Horrors” in North Carolina.

Think of yourself as fortunate not to have lived next to Pazuzu Algarad the next time your neighbor does anything you dislike.

Algarad, a self-described Satanist, lived in his house sacrificing animals, consuming blood, and enjoying orgies. The horror did not end until he was taken into custody and charged with murder.

Pazuzu Algard

The details of Algarad’s early life are only a few. On August 12, 1978, in San Francisco, California, John Alexander Lawson was born. Algarad and his mother moved to Clemmons, North Carolina, at a certain point.

Producing and directing the documentary series The Devil You Know about Pazuzu Algarad, Patricia Gillespie stated it was hard to truly understand his biography since he frequently made up tales about his early years.

According to Gillespie, “He claimed to be from Iraq and that his father was a respected priest.” However, many who knew him as a child characterized him as rather emotional and off-kilter. Things like hurting animals and abusing alcohol and drugs while young might be signs of a mental illness.

Cynthia, John Lawson’s mother, talked about her son’s early-onset mental health problems. He had many mental health diagnoses, including agoraphobia and schizophrenia.

Although Cynthia was able to get Algarad the necessary mental assistance at first, she eventually ran out of money and was unable to continue paying for his therapy. So, his mental state rapidly worsened.

“He wasn’t by any means an angel, but he wasn’t a bad person or a bogeyman or whatever phrases people have called him,” Cynthia remarked in an interview for The Devil You Know.

He picked the name Pazuzu Illah Algarad in 2002 as a homage to the Assyrian demon mentioned in the film The Exorcist.

A Social Outcast

Algarad changed his identity and tried to distance himself from the world by getting tattoos all over his face and sharpening his teeth. He would brag to others about his numerous animal sacrifices and his alleged ability to manipulate the weather.

A psychiatrist noted that Algarad had not brushed his teeth in years and showered no more than once a year, arguing that poor personal hygiene “stripped the body of its defenses in warding off infection and illness.”

His actions represented a serious rebellion against the people of Clemmons, a town well-known for its mostly Christian population.

Algarad attracted people who felt excluded in society and inspired them to partake in immoral activities.

Later on, his old friend Nate Anderson would comment: “He had a twisted sort of charisma, it’s the kind of charisma that isn’t going to appeal to everyone.” However, that will attract some minds, such as misfits, outcasts, and those who are living or have thought about living on the edge.

Algarad had an ability of drawing ladies. His fiancées, Amber Burch and Krystal Matlock, were regular visitors to his house.

“House of Horrors”

For those misfits and outcasts, Pazuzu Algarad’s home at 2749 Knob Hill Drive served as a gathering place. They were free to come and go as long as they liked. What they did inside Algarad’s house didn’t concern him.

Algarad’s house was the scene of several drug-related activities, self-harm, bird-blood consumption, rabbit sacrifices, and orgies.

The house was obviously in terrible shape since blood was splashed on the walls, there was trash all over the place, and animal corpses were laying about.

It smelled like rot and was pitch-black. Pentagrams and slogans associated with Satan were painted across the place.

Dead Bodies in Pazuzu Algarad’s Backyard

Pazuzu Algarad was accused in October 2010 (before any corpses were discovered on his land) with accessory after the fact of involuntary homicide.

Joseph Emmrick Chandler’s corpse was found in Yadkin County in September 2010. Algarad was charged with hiding facts from detectives and permitting a murder suspect to stay at his residence.

Algarad, 35, and his fiancé, Amber Burch, 24, were both taken into custody on October 5, 2014, following the discovery of two men’s skeleton remains buried in Algarad’s property.

The guys were identified as Tommy Dean Welch and Joshua Fredrick Wetzler on October 13. Both men vanished in 2009.

Algarad’s second fiancé, 28-year-old Krystal Matlock, was accused in relation to the killing of a single individual whose corpse was discovered shortly after Algarad and Burch were taken into custody. She was suspected to have assisted in Wetzler’s burial.

Later, it was claimed that Burch assisted in burying Wetzler’s body when Algarad killed him in July 2009. Welch was reportedly slain by Burch in October 2009, and Algarad assisted with Welch’s funeral. The males had both been shot in the head.

The house was declared “unfit for human habitation” by county housing officials not long after the corpses were discovered there. Pazuzu Algarad’s house of horrors was destroyed in April 2015.

The Suicide of Pazuzu Algarad

Pazuzu Algarad was discovered dead in his cell at Central Prison in Raleigh, North Carolina, early on October 28, 2015. It was determined that the man killed himself by bleeding from a serious incision on his left arm. It is still unclear what instrument Algarad used.

Amber Burch entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder, armed robbery, and accessory after the fact to murder on March 9, 2017. Algarad’s house was allegedly visited by Tommy Dean Welch, Burch, and other people. Burch, according to the prosecution, shot him twice in the head as he was sitting on the couch with a.22 caliber rifle.

Burch received a jail term of at least thirty years and eight months and a maximum of forty-nine years and two months.

On June 5, 2017, Krystal Matlock entered a guilty plea to conspiracy to accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. She received a jail term of three years and two months as a minimum and four years and ten months as a maximum.
