The Woman in the Tree
In 1943, a group of young children discovered the skeleton of a young woman inside of a wych elm tree in the small English town of Hagley. These four boys, local to the area, were in Hagley wood poaching some of the wild game on the estate when they came across a large tree. They thought that the tree would be an ideal place to hunt and steal from birds nests. One of the boys, Bob Farmer, began to climb the tree to scout for any possible nests to thieve from.

Death and Addiction (Chapter 1)
Jon woke up to the sound of his phone ringing. It was already light out and the thin curtains of his office did little to shield him from the uncomfortably bright morning glare. He groaned painfully. His throbbing head and scratchy parched throat were nothing compared to the self-loathing washing over him. He sat up in his office chair, his neck aching from the awkward angle he’d fallen asleep at. His hand was curled in a fist around the neck of an empty bottle of Jack.

A Story for a Dead Man
I set my alarm as if I was setting a bomb rigged to blow. It’s 1:22am on a Friday night and I’m half drunk and dreading tomorrow’s wake up. I’ve always hated tomorrow’s wake up, it didn’t matter the time or day or what was supposed to be happening, I just didn’t like waking up much. They vocally agreed to get up at 6am as I silently disagreed and set my alarm for 6:16am. Sleep may be the cousin of death but it’s sure a friend of mine.

The Devil in Polo
Maybe I got addicted to the rush of the fast life. The adrenaline flowing through my body was something a girl from a prestigious upbringing couldn't get enough of. Some might suggest I walked a tight rope my whole life. Never living on the edge...and how could I? With the family I was born into there was no concept of fun or adventure. My amusement was the hour I was allotted once a week to go on trainer free rides with my horse. The rest of my days were compiled with scheduling by my debutante mother. School from this hour to that, Violin till sometime to another, studying, reading, yoga, etiquette classes, pageants, riding lessons and fencing. I was only aloud enough time to be the perfect daughter my parents dreamed about.

Family Ties
Chapter 1 “Nancy come back to bed.” I turned around to see Brian standing behind me in his pajamas. He was about 6’1” and built like a football player but had the brains of a nerd. I think that’s why I have been playing this on again, off again affair with him. The first time we met was when I was married to my first husband Vince Right. I was miserable in my marriage and was really only in it for the money so when Brian came along I couldn’t help but be tempted. We would fool around every once in a while but I wanted a way out of my senseless marriage so Brian and I came up with the perfect plan—fake my murder. By faking my murder, I would be out of the marriage and be rid of my stupid husband since the blame would go all on him. All I had to do was find a way for the police to convict him without needing my body as proof. Vince's brother David solved that problem for me though and after wrapping him around my little finger, the plan came together perfectly.
