For All You Crime Geeks
I have been obsessed with crime related entertainment for as long as I can remember. I count down the days until a new serial killer movie comes out, my YouTube history is filled with Crime Watch Daily episodes, and I binge watched Dexter in a ridiculously short amount of time. I chose a crime scene investigation major and can pop off with the most random crime facts, yet I can’t remember where I left my phone most of the time. I don’t really understand where the fascination came from or why all of the criminal justice work is so easy for me, but I do know that I’m absolutely obsessed. In the past year I have been super into true crime podcasts. I think it is fascinating that you listen to these criminal justice experts/nerds and are able to see the story playing out in your head. I have compiled a list of my all time favorite podcasts for all of you true crime geeks just like me.

Cults
So cults are hard to understand. Sometimes a lot of them are more hidden than others. So what is a cult? What do they do? There are several categories or definitions of cults—here are some of the most common. A cult is a group of people that have come together because of unusual religious, spiritual, or philosophical beliefs. It can have a common interest in a particular personality, object, or goal. It's also a social group with socially deviant or odd beliefs and practices, although this is often unclear. There are some cults that arise spontaneously around beliefs and practices. An older definition of the term is a set of religious devotional practices that are conventional within their culture and related to a particular figure, and often associated with a particular place.

The Time I Got a Creepy Security Guard Fired
We all know that sexual predators are anywhere and everywhere in the world, and that they can be someone we know whether they're related to us or not. Friends, family, co-workers, etc. It could be anyone. I myself had never expected something like it to happen to me. Mostly because at the time I was already 18 and most of the people who I've told this story to also agreed. This story most people would call it sexual harassment instead of being sexually preyed on. I guess you could say it was both.

Robert Ackermann the Cannibal of Vienna
When Robert Ackermann was 19, he left his native city of Cologne, Germany and by August of 2007, he was staying in Vienna, Austria in short-term housing for the mentally ill and homeless that was run by a private charity. At the facility, he shared a room with Josef Schweiger who was 49 and had been living at the facility since June. It was amazing that Ackermann’s behavior and his feuds with his roommate didn’t alarm weekly social workers, but the neighbors on the family-filled tenement block were certainly worried about Ackermann’s behavior. They had argued with the disturbed Ackermann, had seen him crawling naked through the yard howling at the moon, or dumping what appeared to be blood from his window. They realized that this teen was quite dangerous.

Solid character development is essential in these novels because everyone loves a concept full of depth, where your favorite characters can just as easily be those you admire as those you truly detest. With all that said, there are so many great mystery series out there for you to choose from that you need never be worried about running out of compelling stories to read.
