Was The Pirate Code a Real Thing?
Pirates remain one of our most romanticized groups of villains, from Captain Hook in Peter Pan to Long John Silver in Treasure Island, pirates have become a part of our stories, and our cultural mythology. Even in this modern day, buccaneers have taken center stage thanks to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, which brings back the legends of Davy Jones, The Flying Dutchman, and other common myths that were found in general sailing culture, and specifically in the golden age of piracy during the 1600s.

A gurney with a body rolls into the forensics laboratory. It has only expired a few minutes ago. It is the corpse of a monster. The Plan is Revealed...
Jay comes through a week later. It’s seven days later than I wanted personally but unsurprisingly he’s a very hard man to pin point. I spend two days tailing him from a distance, watching his every move and noting any patterns in daily activities. For a wanted man, he’s incredibly blasé about being in the public eye. He looks no different to before it happened. Maybe he’s trying to get caught. Maybe the guilt is eating him alive and he wants to pay for his crimes. I snort at the thought. He has no conscience, there’s no way he’d feel guilty. It’s 5pm when I see him enter the block of flats. I get out of my car and wait on the sidewalk, pretending to use my phone. Fifteen minutes later, my opportunity arrives. As a woman leaves, I run up the path calling for her to hold the door. I smile and thank her as I duck into building. I take the stairs two at a time heading for the sixth floor. I could have taken the elevator but the adrenalin is surging through me. By the time I reach his door, I am buzzed for a fight. I take a deep breath, knock on his door and step out of the way of the peephole. I stand with my back against the wall and listen. He opens the door partially and peers out. Without a second thought, I spin around the doorframe and barge into the door with such force that it allows me access and as an added bonus, knocks him back causing him to stumble. I slam the door shut behind me and before he has time to regain his equilibrium, I grab the collar of his shirt and swing him against the wall. I pin his neck with my arm and interlock my legs with his so he can’t move. I push all my weight against him as he gasps in shock from my assault. He’s getting off lightly, the bastard.

Car Owner Virus
I collected the boy from his friends house, after school, and popped into the Sainsbury’s local supermarket, which after the panic buying, looked as if it had been pillaged by the Viking’s. I got home and drove around for a parking space, of which there were none. In one of the nearby streets, which were awash with spaces, there is an hour restriction between 7 - 8 pm, and as it was 7.30 pm and we were in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, I tried my luck and my old van came to a rest, and we wearily got out and headed indoors, to hear the Lockdown Latest from Boris.

Unpopular Opinion:The Death Penalty Needs to be Suspended
What began as a public event soon became more private as executions were moved from outdoor gathering spaces to within prison walls. The death penalty has been in use in the United States since the mid-1600s. Early criminals were often put to death in front of jeering crowds who celebrated the act of execution. But the morbid desire to see people being killed was not diminished once executions were removed from public spaces. Crowds of people still clamored to gain entry to the exclusive events. The more publicized the crime, the more well-attended the execution.

Hungry Like The Wolf
Filicide, by definition, is the deliberate act of a parent that murders their own child. The word by itself sounds as sinister as the deed, and the deed is unimaginable to most of the population. Though filicide applies to both parents, it is particularly shocking when a woman ends or attempts to end the lives of her children. Children born of her own body. How can a woman willingly and knowingly cause a defect in the flesh of her flesh, and watch as the blood of her blood spills from that defect?
