101-Year-Old Woman S.A.'ed By 20-Year-Old Who Wanted to be Made "Famous"

Pettis was sentenced to 30-years in prison

By Criminal MattersPublished 5 years ago Updated 9 months ago 3 min read

A 20-year-old Milwaukee man broke into the northeast side home of a 101-year-old woman, raping her once inside. That man left his DNA on the woman, leading to his arrest.

Pettis Rapes Woman

Antoine Pettis broke into the victim’s home at night while she was sleeping. She opened her eyes to see a man standing in her bedroom. Frightened, she began asking him, “Who are you? Why are you here? Pettis told her to shut up, smacked her in the face, and then grabbed her by the stomach, tossed her on her stomach, and proceeded to rape her.

DNA Left at the Scene

Pettis fled the residence after the attack. A few minutes later, the victim left her bedroom and stood at the side door yelling for someone to help her. Police arrived and took a statement from the victim. She was then transported to a local hospital where medical professionals obtained DNA from the rape kit. Pettis was identified as a possible suspect in the case.

Pettis had submitted his DNA to the state for a paternity test back in 2013. Since the DNA did not match any suspects currently in the database, police used this sample to narrow down the list of suspects. Pettis’s DNA matched that collected from the 101-year-old victim during this attack.

Pettis Arrested

Police arrested Pettis, charging him with burglary, aggravated battery, and second-degree sexual assault.

He faced up to 58 ½ years in prison if he had been convicted on all charges.

During interrogation, he admitted that he and a friend broke into the woman’s home and when he could not find anything that he wanted to steal, raped her instead.

To add further insult to injury, the man smiled for the camera in his mugshot and stated to reporters, “Y’all gonna make me a celebrity.”

Pettis Sentenced

Pettis pleaded not guilty by reason of mental defect or insanity, but was cleared and found competent to stand trial.

The entire trial was a joke to Pettis, who yawned, laid his head back, and appeared to fall asleep at one point.

In January 2015, a Milwaukee judge sentenced Pettis to serve 30 years in prison. He’ll also serve 15-years probation once he is released from prison.

Pettis’s Future Release From Prison

Pettis will be 50 years old or younger when he is released from prison if he makes it behind bars for this amount of time. I hope the enthusiasm of being a celebrity still appeals to him once he’s older, released from prison, and cannot live a normal life because this hangs on his shoulder.

Seeing as the victim was nearly 102 at the time of this attack, which occurred over six years ago, I am sure that she is no longer with us. However, I hope this asswipe did not disturb the final years of her life in such a way she could not move to the afterlife peacefully.
