The Price You Pay
Some Things Are Priceless

Introduction
The image is from my Pixabay page here:
It is often thought that there is always a price to pay, especially for the things that make us happy. The song I have chosen is Bruce Springsteen's song of the same title from the album"The River" which is darker than this article will be although it will touch on difficult things.
We do pay for many things in many different ways, we give our time and expertise in return for a wage which pays for the computer and access to power and the internet that enables me to share this article with you.
I am now giving you my time and that is a price I pay and hopefully, in return, you will read this, and the price you pay will be your time and attention and I will be given half a cent by Vocal.
Paying The Price
That phrase is almost violent in itself. The phrase "You will pay the price" is almost a threat, and in many cases, it is used as a threat.
I know so many people who find trust difficult because in the past they have been lied to, and sold a dream, only to have it destroyed when they were betrayed by the ones whom they thought they could trust.
It has happened to me many times, especially in work environments, and I try and prepare myself for things like that, but I am now very lucky to be in a wonderfully supportive work environment.
Although there is a price to pay for everything joyful in our lives that cost can be as wonderful as the joy that we receive.
One of the most precious gifts we can give is our time, and spending time with someone you care for, such as friends and family, the ones you love is the price you pay, and that is a price I love to pay every time it happens, which to be honest is most of the time.
After I publish this I am going to chat with my daughter Juliet because of something that happened (she is fine, but it was traumatic) but I was happy to hear that friends had rallied around to help her.
That friendship was paid for by Juliet spending time and caring for the people who then helped her. That price was something that Juliet took great joy in paying.
You Get What You Give
Again this thought can have dark implications, but usually, if you treat others with care, love and respect, and have fun with them then that will be returned, and you will never really feel that you are paying a price, although you are, and you are enjoying it.
This encapsulates the paragraph title:
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” is also known as the "Golden Rule”. The actual quote from the Bible is from Luke 6:31, “And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.” Simply put, this phrase means to treat others the way we want them to treat us.
I always treat people the best I can, although I sometimes make mistakes, but by giving my time and care, I take pleasure in it and get joy from it and I usually find it reciprocated.
Conclusion: The Price I Pay
I live my life trusting people, caring for them, and giving respect. I am grateful for the love and care that I receive in return.
I don't know if others feel the same but I am happy to keep paying this price because of the joy and comfort it gives me.

A price that easily & almost always yields dividends far beyond those paid. Thanks for sharing these ruminations, Mike.
Oh I'm so glad Juliet is okay now. And yes, I totally agree with you. We should never do to other what we wouldn't like when it's done to us.
Good words. Most times, not all, the return is many fold. 😎
Nicely said. I'm glad your daughter is okay. 🤗
🥰 You are a lovely person. That much is crystal clear. ❤
