Roller Coaster Writing On Vocal

A Confession

A Way Over The Top AI Creation For This Story By The Author

Introduction

This was inspired by my friend Michelle Liew's introspective poem which you can read here:

I may be repeating things that I have said in the past, but due to the nature of the modern world and the requirement for Zeitgeist and The "Now" most people will never see those stories again.

I've included Ronan Keating's "Life Is A Roller Coaster" for obvious reasons.

My Roller-Coaster Ride Of Writing

I see a lot of Vocal stories addressing loss, grief and difficulty in life and because of that, I feel that my writing should be uplifting and positive, which does sometimes take its toll on my mental health, and coincidentally November is a Men's Mental Health Month:

I am lucky because I have a wonderful Muse and she inspires me to create and take inspiration from so many sources, as you can see from this story which is inspired by another friend's poem.

This is hopefully more on the high of the roller-coaster, but when you think about it the roller-coaster analogy may not be the best example because experiencing the ups and downs fills you with a special euphoria. Moving from happiness and joy to grief or depression and back does not give you.

This meme is very pertinent for all of us.

As I am writing this I am wondering if this should be in the Psyche community even though it is an obvious confession.

While I can usually find positive things to write about, sometimes I do get down, but writing can help lift that black cloud over me.

Sometimes I worry about sharing my darker personal poetry in case people worry about me, but the reality is when I write those things I am actually looking for a hug, real or virtual, to tell me everything will be OK. Thinking on that when I see a similar piece by another creator I try to express my support in words.

This is a recent one where I was not feeling too good:

I am also suffering from this as well, but have just passed fifty eight thousand reads on Vocal so I know my readers still love me.

but dealing with it like this

Today I am off work for a week and will be doing a lot of recuperation. I also have several writing projects so I am not going to be stuck for things to do.

The video above is where I will be taking some of my walks

I will be taking walks and enjoying good food and still be talking to my friends. The internet has become wonderful for bringing people together from all over the world, although I know Vocal is mainly United States of America based, and I am sure this Facebook Group is fairly representative.

One of the things I have started doing is Thoughtpieces which are freeform poems or short fiction, just listing things that make you feel calm and joyful. This is the initial idea piece:

And here are a few of my actual Thoughtpieces (though I wish Vocal would use one of the story images rather than their generic black and depressing image, I am sure one day they will)

Conclusion

I hope I have transmitted some good feelings and positivity in this piece. I know bad things happen, and life is difficult but if we are together, support and encourage each other, and are there when we are needed (if we can be) then we can truly enjoy life and enjoy creating on Vocal.

Thank you so much for reading and for being here for me when I need you.

I understand the worry that while writing dark or mental health poems could trigger a worry form your readers. I feel that writing needs to from your soul at that moment. Enjoy your time off and your lovely nature walk. Thank you for keeping it so real.

I read this with a warm heart Mike. When I write poems about grief and mental health, I am often writing about my feelings. I have been deeply affected by grief because I have lost a string of people over the years, and death isn't my only loss. I lost out on a big portion of seeing my children grow up because of severe trauma which affected my mental health during their younger years amongst many painful events. I paint my feelings through poetry in words, often using nature.
