Fade Away And Radiate
An Analogy For How I See Myself On Vocal

Introduction
I don't why this thought came into my head, I have not heard the song or played Blondie for ages though various Bob Fripp related albums are often on my player. If you don't think you know Bob Fripp, you know the main guitar riff on Bowie's "Heroes"? That's Bob.
Fade Away And Radiate
At the moment I have faded from Vocal's notice. There may be a number of reasons for this including the fact that I am banned from some Facebook groups (not that I've done anything wrong, maybe the admins don't like me or are jealous of me), but we can't like everybody can we, but we do like people to read our work and I touched on this in this Top Story.
In the last three months, I have had two Top Stories with two days of each other, but I used to get three or four a month. Other Creators still get that many but I don't know if once you have hit a certain number you are then limited, although that shouldn't happen.
So although I don't get the reads from Top Stories, I am getting them from somewhere. I do share my stories off the platform and even off Facebook (I also use my blog as well) and that seems to be paying off. This is about my poem being featured on Spillwords for their Thirteen Days Of Halloween:
Sometimes Top Stories don't result in the reads we expect, and I have seen Top Stories with zero hearts or comments until they are chosen as Top Stories and sometimes audiences need to be told that something IS worth reading.
So essentially I am fading from Vocal's notice for the time being but radiating throughout the ether to share my work with others, and they are reading my work. Also, I am still bringing in new creators via the Ambassadors' Program and since joining The Vocal Social Society as an admin I have put initiatives in place that have helped raise membership by nearly fifty per cent.
This is what we have to do to survive seemingly inhospitable situations. Put that situation on the back burner, but don't ignore it, still give it respect, but then look for new situations, this is where you radiate.
I always try to encourage people, and introduce them to other supportive creators and empaths, and, I may be being selfish here, but that does grow my audience and make people more likely to read my Vocal stories.
I do find it ironic that when I started publishing on Vocal very few of my Facebook friends read my work, then I joined some Facebook Vocal Groups and found my audience, and now I am looking for people outside of these groups to support my work properly, and that is working.
Admittedly it is hard work, and also very hit and miss, and has resulted in some run-ins with annoying pedants in Folk Music groups (but countered by so much support that my most-read story is a Folk Music Playlist that you can check here.)
This has five comments from four Vocal Creators, Nine Hearts, twenty-three spam comments that Vocal are still to deal with (the user never published anything) and fifteen hundred reads, so others do read and appreciate my work.
Conclusion
Thank you so much for reading. You are the reason that I know my work is appreciated. I have every confidence in almost every piece I write and I will keep producing stories, and thanks to Vocal for their excellent platform that allows me to share my work with you.
I will leave you with a poem listing some of my favourite Facebook Vocal Groups.

I read much of your work on Vocal. I think you write some interesting pieces.
great written piece
"Fade away and radiate" is turning into the theme tune of my life. 🤣🤣 parallel lines was 1st album i ever bought. Ach... MikeyDred every dog has their day and all that. Besides, I'd rather radiate than be screamingly blatant. I don't have the energy for all that!! You do you (and all that cliche stuff)! 🥰
I so appreciate your work on Vocal! Great piece!!
To me you are Vocal. I have learned a lot from you and your articles. Just keep what you are doing. Good work.
Personally I have no insight other than wobbly assumptions on the how's and why's of Vocal's choices. I see you as one of Vocal's biggest assets in that you are very much a social influencer and many turn to you for advice. I always appreciate your candour and readiness to be of assistance to so many creator's with concerns.
I certainly don't see you as fading away, with or without top stories, your doing an amazing job. Keep going dear Mike!
Yea, when you get another Top Story, I'm just gonna comment "I told you so" instead of "Congratulations!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Like I don't know how many times I've already told you that you're not fading away, or being ignored, or getting shunned, or being punished, or banned, or whatever it is that you feel Vocal is doing to you. None of it is true because so many times after you write a piece like this, you still get a Top Story. I rest my case 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
