I know I've been absent a lot here lately

But I haven't forgotten any of you

Lately, I've been absent a lot from both Vocal and ViM. Many of my closest friends know and understand why I have been, but there are several who are probably wondering what's going on with Ol' Mother Combs. Whether I am alive or dead, or if I just gave up altogether on writing. Well, let me update my fans and readers on what's been happening lately in my life.

I've been so busy in my real life, I've not known much whether I'm coming or going. Between the divorce and the move, I've not had much time to create on Vocal, much less check in on ViM more than I have lately. I knew this would be a busy time for me, but I just didn't realize how much work would be required for each task. It's crazy busy, I tell you.

I've been lucky with the little property I purchased. Both houses have minor leaks in the water pipes, which have been easily fixed. A friend of mine is laying the floor in the second bedroom for me. This same friend has been the one to help move the larger stuff with her grandfather's trailer, so I haven't had to rent a U-Haul. Honestly, with the help of my friends, I've saved money because they darn near refuse to take a dime except for gas and food. We've moved over 80% of our stuff since Monday, with just one truck on Monday and my car the rest of the week. We'll have the truck again this Tuesday (after Labor Day), and we'll finish the move of our larger items, plus the dogs and cats.

The previous owner has left SO much stuff inside both houses. They even told us to keep what we want, and they'll come back for the rest to haul off to the thrift store. Some really nice furniture and kitchen appliances! Washer, dryer, stand mixer, coffee maker, microwave, coffee table, TV cabinet, microwave stand, mini fridge, stoves.... Plus so much more that they left and didn't want, and all of it's GOOD!

Not listed on the sales listing: the water heaters are almost brand new for both houses, and so is the pressure tank for the well. After weed-eating around the house and cutting down some flowers that have already bloomed, we found a STORM SHELTER!! It'll hold at least 5 people!

Turning off the phone and internet at the old house was a hassle. Windstream didn't want to lose us as customers, but they didn't have service in our area, ten miles away. After several calls and demands, I got them to sign me up with ViaSat (it seems to work great so far) and to finally cancel our service on the 30th of August. (Which, by the way, my soon-to-be ex had a meltdown when I canceled the internet on him, making it so he could no longer watch YouTube.) So, my new house has internet AND phone, and it's great! Now, I can get back online!!

Electricity has been a little headache. Turning it on here at the new house has been no problem. We had to pay a SMALL deposit to have the already turned-on electricity in my name. What was the hassle? Trying to get my name off of my old electric bill. Why? Because it's in both my ex's and mine names. They won't remove mine until the divorce is completely final, so if he doesn't pay the bill and skips town, I'll be stuck with however high he runs the bill. I understand why, but I don't like it one bit. Nope. Sure don't.

Bonnie and I bought a TCL TV for a third of the cost of a Samsung. Let me tell you, it's the bomb! 43" with the clearest picture I have seen in a long, long time! Supernatural, The Big Bang Theory, Bob's Burgers, The Simpsons, and a few other shows we've broken down and watched, LOOK FANTASTIC!!

The divorce from my husband is still in the beginning stages. Hoping it will be over by Christmas. If it is, I may start celebrating Christmas again. On a plus note, he's given up all his verbal attacks. He's still a narcissist, but he's backed off for now.

This all may seem like one huge flex to you all, but just know it's not meant to be. I've not had good news like this to share with anyone in such a long time, I'm just bubbling over to tell someone! Who better than my Vocal friends!

All in all, the girls and I have been extremely hectic busy with everything we have had to do. Yet, this house has brought each of us peace that we didn't have before. It's also bringing us together.

Hopefully, very soon, I'll be way less busy. Then I'll be able to sit down again, read everyone's stories, commenting again, while writing my little tales. If you have a story you feel I should be reading about, feel free to drop the link in the comments, or DM me through Messenger. I'll gladly make sure I read them.

Thanks for putting up with me babbling throughout this whole missive. Just know I'm thinking of each of you and hope to be back to full-time reading very soon!!

Wow you have had one busy year. you know what. I'm so proud of you. I know what it's like to try and get away from a narc, especially an abusive one. I can say that I'm so happy that you and the girls can sleep a little easier. The fact that you wrote :"This house has given us a peace we didn't have before." And that its bringing you together. That makes my heart so warm and happy. You and your girls deserve the peace. And the healing. I hope this move makes you feel freer, and opens so many doors for you. <3 And if you need anything... I'm pretty sure I speak for a lot of us that if you said you needed help - we would be ALL over that in any way we could.

That’s excellent some of your friends were able to assist. This line made me chuckle, “Some really nice furniture and kitchen appliances!” Haha what the heck! That’s a lot to leave. Scored! 😂😁 So to be clear you have two smaller houses for your frowns children etc? Shame about the electricity situation. Hope it is sorted soon rather than later. Glad it’s all coming together. 😊 I’d been thinking before I should have done a post like as to why I was mostly away from vocal the last many months, but I haven’t achieved all you have Sharon.p! ..And Mine would just be so, “here are ten reasons why I’m crazy and can’t get motivated for Vocal.” Hahah. Of course there’s a bit more to it than that plus I just needed a break. Best for your new home, Mate!! 😀 🏠

I don't know how I've missed this, Sharon (I am on the move lately myself, just settled in a new place) but I was thinking about you and wondering how you'd been. Thank you for this update and wish you a speedy divorce. Mend well from it and regain your strength and faith in yourself.

  • Wooohooooo congratulations on your Leaderboard placement! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊

I understand about upheavals. Between heart rehab and my wife getting a new hip in 2weeks life has not been smooth. I’m glad things are getting better for you though.

  • Glad to see that everything is tying up for you, albeit with a few bumps! It's looking like a great new beginning!

  • Thanks to Facebook, I know how busy you've been. I too hope the divorce would be finalised by Christmas. It'll be the perfect Christmas gift. Can't wait for you to be back hehehe. Sending you lots of love and hugs ❤️

It's good to hear from you and I hope you find peace and joy in your new home. You've actually been on my mind a lot since you posted the winners of your last challenge and you mentioned your divorce. I've seen some pretty nasty divorces and hoped your absence was just due to being busy and not anything more worrisome. I look forward to reading more of your wonderful stories, but no rush. You must take care of yourself first.

  • And it is a transition to a beautiful new beginning. Congratulations on a fresh start.

So glad to see an update from you. I’ve really missed your presence and your writing. It sounds like you’ve been through so much, but I love that there’s a sense of peace and new beginnings shining through.

This is not babble! This is Awesome!!! I'm soooo glad you wrote all this!!! If you can't celebrate with friends, you need new friends. Am I right? It's crazy how old name-attachments haunt us! I used to sign onto the SSA website, until I changed my phone/phone number. They have a two-step verification and the second step is to call the number they have on file. I talked to about a dozen reps on the phone, tried everything I could just to have them update my phone #, but you have to get online to do it... and I can't get past that second step to get online. I gave up. Love all the TV shows you mentioned. My ex-g/f's nickname for me was Sheldon. Don't ask me why. 🤷 😂🤣 A storm shelter?!?? Are you kidding??? That's so cool! There's some kind of story in that discovery! All kinds of things you could do with that (once you have time to write again, I mean.) You should take pictures eventually. A storm shelter is only one step away, you know, from a bomb shelter! You're now set up for the Apocalypse! I've wondered often about the divorce/your ex, but I was always hesitant to bring up such an unpleasant topic. Plus, you know-- every time I talk to you, I'm too busy yammering about my own issues. I love how your place is slowly coming together! Take many pictures as it evolves-- for your own photo albums. Many Blessings to You & Yours! ⚡💙⚡

There you are! I have been wondering about you a lot. Like a real lot, lot. :D I knew you moved house and since that's kind of a little chaotic, I supposed your head was inside a moving box or something, perhaps a new drawer that was comfy and you were taking a long nap. Welcome back! (little flower pot with pretty flowers)
