Rating Mnet's Good Girl Performances Pt. 4
In this round of performances, the Good Girl team faces off against....idols! I was especially excited for these because while I didn't know many of the rappers from Just Music, I know all of the idols that participated in this round and couldn't wait to see what they would do!

Kanye West's 'Wash Us In The Blood'
The ever-controversial, often genius (depending who you ask) Kanye West has dropped a new single 'Wash Us In the Blood'. This is the first new music from the musician since Christmas, and acts as a potential teaser for his newly-promised forthcoming album, 'God's Country'.

The Slowed Song Trend
I happened to be pursuing through YouTube as I usually do, and I happen to see some recommendations for me. I see this video titled, Meg Myers - Desire (slowed). I originally didn't think anything of it, until more videos like that one popped up on my feed. I finally took a chance on one of them and that was Lana Del Rey's Summertime Sadness in a slowed version. It was intriguing and entertaining to hear the same song, but altered just slightly to hear Summertime Sadness for the first time again.

Rating Mnet's Good Girl Performances pt. 2
For this set of performances, the girls were separated into pairs and then asked to collaborate on a performance. These performances were only presented to the Good Girl team and host, not to a larger audience like the last ones were. Overall, I was so happy to see how well they all worked together, how they recognized their partner's difference in style, and how much support they showed each other. Women working together, we love to see it!

Rating Mnet's Good Girl Performances
As a disclaimer, I want to make it clear that I am not at all trying to pit these amazingly talented female artists against each other. In fact, Good Girl is actually not a competition show as one would expect from Mnet, who has produced shows like Show Me the Money and Unpretty Rapstar. Instead, the girls will be able to win money from Mnet itself by working together to win challenges. As far as I know, there will be no eliminations (but it's Mnet so who knows). Anyways, I will be ranking their performances based on things like how well they completed the challenge, their effectiveness on stage, and how much I personally enjoyed the performance.

THE MUSICOLOGIST
The Musicologist When some artists achieve enough notoriety, it becomes clear whether that artist will persist in the collective consciousness as an unduplicatable icon or a staple of the pop music diet. While watching the 2010 BET awards, it became clear that there were many artists featured who represent these two ideals. On the one hand you have Michael Jackson and Prince, two artists, contemporaries, rivals even, who belong with the great musicians and composers of the Modern Age, or any age for that matter. Through tributes and performances, their oeuvre is so untouchable it seems heretical to attempt to honor them with it. On the other hand, Teddy Pendergrass and El DeBarge have created a repertoire easily accessible and replicable.
