Interview with Accent Sorrow
So, to begin with, I met the artist who would become Accent Sorrow about 5 or 6 years ago through one of my closest friends. I didn't have too many initial reactions of him, though I did know I wasn't a tremendous fan of his taste of music. Coincidentally, it was indirectly through this particular set of musical tastes that I came to determine that my thinking about music had ossified, and I'd reached the age where I thought the music "of my generation" was the best, and everything new sucked.

The Double Standards for Women in Music. Top Story - August 2020.
On August 7th of 2020 all social media outlets turned their heads to the release of rapper/songwriter Cardi B’s W.A.P music video, featuring fellow rapper/songwriter Megan Thee Stallion. The abbreviation “W.A.P” stands for “Wet Ass Pussy” ( Heard repeatedly throughout the song, along with other sexual innuendos and incantations ) which has earned it a claim of over the top vulgarity and obscenity. However, following the mass criticism and harsh critiques the true problem within, not just the music industry but society as a whole, reared its ugly face. Sexism, Misogyny, Insecurity, Dependency, Ego, and Masculinity v.s Femininity.

Can BLACKPINK Be The Girl Group Revolution?
For longtime fans of South Korea's cultural juggernaut and often controversial export Kpop (AKA "Hallyu", "gayo" or simply “idol music” to the country's native residents), the summer of 2016 will likely be remembered for two key events. First, the industry's unofficial passing-of-the-celebrity-torch from the genre's elder statesmen and women to its most bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and second, the subsequent treasure trove of rookie girl groups that either began their reign at the top of the charts (Stone Music's I.O.I and JYP Entertainment's Twice) or further extended their runs (SM Entertainment's Red Velvet and Source Music's Gfriend.) And as luck would have it, early August would bestow yet another gift upon the season's unusually lavish mantle when iconic record label YG Entertainment's founder and former chief executive officer Yang Hyun-suk unveiled his latest ensemble BLACKPINK.
