Do ya love?
As the dreaded Valentine's Day falls upon us and my social media feed is full of reminders that this is the all important day that will define how loved I am and thus my value as a human being, I can't help noticing that Valentine's Day seems evoke all of our fears, insecurities, vulnerabilities and wounds, and all of our defence mechanisms come out to play.

The Welcome to Dating Yourself Playlist
We all know that Valentine's day was a holiday invented by a card company (Hallmark). OK maybe not invented per se, but certainly pushed by them for profit. Nonetheless so many of us are drawn in by the red heart promise of romance or at least chocolate that it affords us. I am not innocent, I pandered to it just like everyone else, in what I reassured myself was a more relaxed and nonchalant way. But it's happened, my first single Valentine's day in over 2 years, no longer a day I'll be acknowledging.

♬ Music can fix 🔨 a calendar
Once again music will save a life... It has surely saved mine many times before when looking and feeling so dull in my teenage years, I surprised everyone belting out my favorite song on the school bus, like a mentos candy dropping in a 1 litre Coke bottle, I resuscitated from the most insignificant ashes and exploded in some wonder kid and no drugs were involved in the process...

F*ck Love
*ahem* Welcome to the time of year that people love or hate. One thing I think most of us can agree on is the absolute cringe factor Valentine’s Day (or sometimes even love in general) brings. Whether you’re single, heartbroken, or just looking for some playlists and memes, you came to the right place!

Hairbrush Heartache
As Valentine's Day 2021 approaches, most of us whether we're currently romantically entangled or not, find ourselves looking back to the ghosts of Valentines past. The lovers, not the actual days. If we're honest with ourselves most of the actual celebrations don't make it into the long term memory banks. Then men and women we shared them with however are harder to forget and the songs we blasted in our headphones to drown out the pain of those breakups, well, they stick with us too and when we hear them later in our lives, we're transported to a different time.

Dirty-Love Dozen
Honestly, I’m not a Valentine’s Day kind of woman. I won’t lie, there was a time when it might have meant something to me. When I fell for the “flawless” romantic Valentine’s Day hype we see in the media. You know, the pipe-dream feeding us the scoop about how important it is to celebrate love on this one particular day of the year. As if those 24-hours could actually determine the authenticity of your relationship. The bigger the bouquet, the bigger the love, right?
