Damn You Ariel
I’m my own Prince Charming
It all began with the Little Mermaid the Disney version. Girl wants more and a man can give it to her. He was deceived by the sea witch aka the one with a fewer imperfection than you. With the help of her friends they help him realize the bigger butt is a fake. Something like that, Right? The point is I was taught by that story that love has obstacles but good always prevails, or so I thought. It would be much later in my life that I came to know the original Hans Christian Andersen version of the story. Sis was treated like a dog, he marries the next bitch, she must choose to kill him or turn into sea foam. While both good stories, reality is a bit more between the lines or parts of both tales.
Now I was raised on the little mermaid and at the age where I would watch it over and over until I knew every word, every song, and every movement of that movie. So loving with difficulty was my reality along with other underlined issues made for a confused adult. It was normal to get into a relationship where I had to prove myself over and over and the “Sea Witch” would always win. Then I started dealing with those issues and started loving myself. So on this month to get me through the humbug of coupled love. Embracing self-love, my love of music and the process of growing out of childish things.
Growing up is hard but no mistakes just lessons.

Doesn’t mean you can’t have it, but it should not be your end all be all. We were created to share it. Spread the love! Help a stranger, dinner with family and friend or just love on yourself. Love is Love
