The Original Story Of Thumbelina
Every night, without fail, I snuggled up in my blanket and opened the red book with golden seams of bedtime stories. I had a vast choice of wonderful stories like Rumpelstiltskin, Goldilocks and Snow White. However, I’d always go back to my favourite of them all, Thumbelina.

Being Unapologetically Me. Top Story - June 2021.
Growing up, I was never confident in myself or my sexuality. I was always chasing people around, desperate to be accepted which got me in some pretty messed up situations. I always put my faith in the wrong people and got let down every single time. When I got out of my hometown, I realised that the world is so much more accepting than I realised. I came to the conclusion that I didn’t have to be afraid to be myself and I started being unapologetically, me.

The Facility
Every day was the same. Wake up, do the work in your sector, go to bed. The rules of survival were simple: Do NOT go outside. The facility was the only safe place. We had to tell them everything that was going on, including our mental state. It was my appointment soon. I wasn’t sure if I should have told them that I kept having the same recurring dream. I kept seeing the woman in my locket but I had no idea who she was. I don’t know why I wore it but there was something in the back of my mind that wouldn’t let me take it off.

What Actually Happened To Lorraine Cox?
Murder is the most heinous crime a human being can commit. With the hit of the tragic murder of Sarah Everard, women across the world felt a fear rise up and take hold that we were not safe. I managed to disassociate the fear as it was in a different county to me. I felt sorrow and anger that it had happened but I wasn’t scared because I didn’t associate with the area in any way. This was until posters around my city of a missing woman, Lorraine Cox, started to appear.

When Stalking Leads To Murder
Kerry Power was a 36-year-old primary school assistant in Plymouth who sadly lost her life at the hands of her ex-partner, David Wilder, 41, in the early hours of the morning on the 14th of December 2013. Her 10-year-old son was asleep, upstairs the whole time and found her body when waking up in the morning. This case was big in my area, not because of the suspect but because this brought up many issues with the police and helped make needed changes in the force.

Songs Of Pride Your Mum Will Love
The time of year to celebrate our inner queens has finally come around again. With lockdown in England coming to an end the same month as pride it is cause for being more than just extra. We can finally see our fellow LGBTQIA+ and it definitely calls for a celebration. I compiled a list of lesbian/queer musicians who I feel are not as recognised as they should be.
