sugar, we're going down swinging
Roy grimaced at the pounding in his temples. He shifted in the sheets, taking stock - no injuries, no missing appendages - and brought a hand up to rub his face. He did a quick mental recap. Roy Harper. Archer. Red Arrow. Formerly Speedy. Clone. Currently feeling like roadkill. Opening his eyes fully proved difficult as he squinted against the sunlight pouring in through the open window, and he immediately knew something was wrong. Besides his tragic hangover, he wasn't even at home. His dingy Star City apartment didn't get this much sun ever, not even on good days.

Staring at her with wide eyes was a boy around her age, barefoot and grasping a - was that a frying pan? His stance turned defensive as he brandished the pan at her. “Who are you and what are you doing here.”

He knelt in a traditional warrior bow of respect, his nose nearly touching the ground. He would have bent further if he could have - Spirits knew she deserved it - but his movements weren't as fluid as they were before. Years ago, when they had been together, fighting side by side, a perfect team. He rose, on shaky but sturdy limbs, vision distorted by stray tears. It appeared that he still had more to spare.

Jade is drunk. So there’s that. The only reason he’s even here to witness this undoubted trainwreck is because Artemis is out of town - Stanford, of all places - and apparently he’s the next best thing (“Please, Roy! I’ll never rag on your whole sidekick thing again.”).

She’d just sent Bart off to take a shower when the doorbell rang. Artemis, hair loose but in still costume (cowl off, no gloves) walked into the living room and immediately spotted a pint of Ben and Jerry’s perched innocently on the coffee table. A yellow post-it was stuck hap-hazardly to the paper container, the condensation already causing it to unstick.

dust through the light
They explained things to him - his name (Wally? Really?), how he’s a (retired) superhero speedster (or used to be at least; he can’t even run faster than Robin now), who was attending Stanford (nice, high-five, Wally) before he…ceased (he notices the way everyone pauses before saying it) eleven months ago. You know, normal, ordinary things, all of which he accepts just fine. He’s a blank slate; he could have been the President of the United States for all he knew.

The Interceptor was quiet. They had had a run-in with six Manhunters on Revya Prime, an abandoned planet in Kilowog’s sector, and everyone was either mildly injured or exhausted. Green Lantern Hal was in his quarters, having a nap, while Green Lantern Kilowog was in the bridge. Only she and Razer had been hurt in the battle. Razer’s wounds were superficial at worst, and she merely had to disassemble herself to integrate with the ship’s system to make repairs.

Melbourne Café Diaries (Part 1/?): Good Measure, Wreckyn St Coffee
You know that whole cream-on-cold brew thing that’s been taking over the café scene? And when I say taking over, I mean, taking over. It seems like all a place has to do to be seen as “trendy” these days is balance some double cream on top of dark cold brew and charge $8 for it (I’m not exaggerating). Well, I tried some places with their own iterations of it (and yes, they all cost around $7-8, and yes, they are all beautiful and delicious in their own ways). I mean, it’s cream and coffee, how can you even go wrong?

I Tried 3 Sun Sticks and Here’s What I Thought
With the catalogue of sun sticks on the market growing at a breakneck pace as health and beauty companies vie for consumers’ attention, it’s becoming harder and harder to make a decision on which one to use. Here’s my thoughts on three sun sticks I have personally used to make that decision just a little bit easier for you. Note: I have not included pricing as every site/store prices them slightly differently and a cursory Google shows large variations in pricing. For example, if my memory serves me right, out of these three, the Beauty of Joseon sun stick was the most expensive one for me, but the official website lists it at a cheaper price. So if you are interested in any of these, do some research to see where you can get it at a better deal because it may be sold cheaper elsewhere!
