I saw it!
The crazy thing is I saw it! It was there and then it was gone. The flash of light had to be something. It moved so fast. I am not a believer of UFOs.

The box is yours
I saw when the drone dropped the box off. My camera clicked multiple times and alerted me that there was movement outside the house. I figured it was one of my many packages from Amazon although they had never used a drone before I knew they were experimenting with them in certain regions and why not Columbus? I was still at work and was in no rush to get home. I figured I be surprised when I got there by whatever was in the package as I could no longer keep up with all the things I felt I needed. It was a hectic day at work, we were busy and people had called off, and on top of that we were short staffed. As my day came to a close at 5:00, I grabbed my coat and my only thought was what should I have for dinner. I got into my car and noticed the pink paper on my windshield after I closed and locked my door. It was probably just a flyer. I rolled down my window to grab it but my arms were long enough. I got out of the car and reached for it, only to find a man beside me when I turned around of course I screamed. He was so close and he only kept saying the box is yours. He walked away after saying it a couple times and I scrambled to get inside my car. What the heck does he mean the box is mine. I looked in the backseat to make sure no one was there and I saw the box, How the hell did it get there ? I should have heard him open the door. Now I am not sure what to do. Do I drive to the nearest police station or call the police or open the box to see what is inside.

Coffee
I love coffee. I can't lie it's my favorite drink. There is so many ways to enjoy coffee. You can put it in brownies. You have it iced or hot. The whipped cream, regular creamer, flavored creamer. You can drink it with sugar or without. There are so many different brands. You can have a light,medium, or dark roast. If your daring you can drink espresso. You can add it to hot chocolate. I love the smell, the taste, the complexity of the different brands. Is coffee a way of life or just a way to get energy to start your day? As a true coffee drinker it is a way of life. I enjoy it in the morning, afternoon, or evening. It represents comfort. The way it smells so differently from brand to brand. You can decide how strong you need it by adding more or less. I have tried so many from McDonald's to Starbucks. I have drank gas station to home roasted coffees. In Columbus, we have so many different coffeehouses it is amazing. A muffin and a hot cup of coffee is breakfast to me. My first sip is always the best. I can feel my body wake up. Sometimes the coffee pot can make all the difference. I remember the days of instant coffee and then to have a cup of fresh brewed coffee. It is the difference between a beeper and a cell phone. I have heard so many different opinion about whether coffee helps or hurts you. Coffee has been a staple in American life for a very long time. I can only imagine when the first person tried coffee what their thoughts were. I love my coffee extremely hot. I have switched to iced coffee to enjoy on the hottest days. A cold brew is even better a bit of cream and caramel there is nothing better in the afternoon when you needed a pick me up and want to change things up.

The Cabin
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. My friends and I always loved this time of year. We could go walking through the woods in the back of our property and enjoy the sights because the leaves have fallen off the trees. The grass has turned brown and the leaves crunch underneath our feet. We have gotten a lot older and just enjoy the walking and talking we can do without a curfew. We’ve walked for about 2 hours before we get ready to head back but we hear a scream, a blood curdling scream. We all stop and look at each other. Because it is in the woods we can’t figure out which way it came from. We grab our cells but there is no reception. We hear a low howl and take off running. We all run in different directions. I start to peak around the tree but I hear footsteps coming towards me. It sounds like whatever it is, is dragging something. I try to hold my breath because the smell is overpowering. Whatever it is turns and walks away from me. I look around the tree to make sure the coast is clear and I see a trail of blood down on the leaves. I make the sound of a bird like we used to when we were younger and my friends come out of their hiding places too.

Say What !?!
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Let me tell you how we stumbled upon the most horrific place I have ever encountered. Our car had broken down along a dirt road. My boyfriend said he used to play in these woods and knew his way around them. I should have known that his memory was not what it used to be because I was the one that pointed out that we had seen the same rock 3 times. It felt like we had been walking for hours. I asked him how big were these woods? He said because so many of the places had been abandoned and torn down they were more dense than they used to be. I finally told him to stop so I could see if I could get a cellphone signal. No such luck. The sun was beginning to set and the air was getting cooler. I had a light weight jacket on but I knew it wasn't going to hold up overnight if we couldn’t find a place to go. He said there were no animals in the woods. I thought to myself there are always animals in the woods. I didn’t even have a granola bar to snack on. My nerves were on edge the later it got. I was in the front and my boyfriend was behind me, now that I think of it that was weird. I mean he wasn’t a manly man but was he trying to sacrifice me if something happened ? So after the 3rd time around the woods, I told him we should go a different route. As we walk around in the woods I start to hear wrestling in the bushes, I scream and my boyfriend takes off running. Really? A bunny comes out of the bushes and hops on its way. I yell his name and he turns around and comes back towards me, the only thing I can do is roll my eyes. I keep trekking on until I see the light in a window and my boyfriend tells me he thought the cabin was deserted still. As we walk up the stairs they creak and I knock on the door, you can tell that no one is taking care of the exterior because it is well worn and there are vines growing all over. There is no answer so I knock again. This time I hear a faint sound and I call out “Hello”. I hear moaning. I look back at my boyfriend and he just shrugs his shoulders. I tell him maybe someone is hurt. I try the door knob and it is unlocked. I peek inside and don’t see anyone but I hear the moaning still. I open the door wider and moaning and mumbling. As I tiptoe to the first room I peek inside and don’t see anyone but the smell is horrid. I go to the second room and peek inside and I see a leg sticking out from underneath the cover. I open the door and before I can say anything I scream and puke at the same time. There is so much blood on the walls and bedding. I back out of the room and trip over my boyfriend. He falls and I hear the mumbling stop and footsteps coming from somewhere in the house. I turn to him and yell “RUN”! He turns to run but there is a man in black blocking the door. We both are looking around for something to fight with or a way out. I did realize before the windows were covered with metal sheeting. We can’t find anything and this guy is huge. He has blood on his hands and starts running towards us. We run the opposite way but there are just more doors. Some of them are locked, we know what is in the first two. This place is crazy as I turn to look behind me. I trip and that causes my boyfriend to fall as well. We fall through the floor and it appears into a basement. I hurt my arm and my boyfriend appears to be unconscious. This is all we need. I can see the shadow of the man above. I don’t know how we can get out of here. It seems we are further down than a basement. This room has a dirt floor and I can smell mildew or water. I can’t see much so I take out my cell phone and shine the light. It looks like there is a small crawl space. As I crawl over to it, I hear the door above creak open. I hear men talking about what happened to us. I also heard one say let’s get out of here.

A small token for your loss
My dream is to use t-shirts I make to encourage nonviolence. I am working on learning how to make memory bracelets and dog tags for parents who have lost children to violence. I want to build a nonprofit that will give parents a way to remember their children that have lost their lives too early. I want to print t-shirts that give inspiration. I am learning how to do that now. If I had the money to build my brand I would use it not only to print t-shirts,make memory bracelets, and dog tags but to help employ young teenagers so that they could see the impact that a memory bracelet or dog tags gives a parent. I would ask for volunteers from the parents that are impacted to spread the word on a positive way to give back to the community. This special group of parents is growing and I hope by giving back and encouraging kids to participate they can see that violence is not the answer. I could buy the equipment, hundreds of t-shirts, and jewelry making supplies. I would also be able to pay for the shipping and handling for parents that are not local. I know this seems like a small token but they would know they are not alone and that people care that they lost their child. I would use some of the money to recruit additional businesses to donate supplies or funds to this important cause because a parent should not bury their child.

My Nightmare
I come here every summer to put my feet in the sand. I love the smell of the ocean and picking up the seashells. Some days I just put my blanket on the sand and curl up with a good book. This is my favorite vacation spot. It's quiet and most of the people keep to themselves. Some days a glass of wine is all I need with the beautiful sunset. It allows me to clear my mind from everything that I have been through. I can't forget any of it. I have tried therapy and it only cracked the surface. I really couldn't handle it. In the back of my mind the nightmare is still there. I stay at the same condo every year. I don't really change my routine, I feel like I am living in a padded room. The fear is real. I survived a traumatic event. I was kidnapped and although I come here to the same place it happened I feel drawn to this same place every year. If I close my eyes I can see him. I can smell him. His hot breath on my neck. The way he whispered in my ear makes me shiver. His rough hands. The sweat that would drip down the side of his face due to the heat. I remember looking out of the window of the boat and seeing the coast guard through the window. Tears running down my face because I knew they couldn’t see or hear me. I couldn't yell because I was gagged. I could see the coast guard ship going further away from us. They had no idea they were so close to a monster. I thought everyone in this small town was so friendly. Most of them knew me because I had been coming here for years. I met Joseph when I arrived last year and he seemed like a great guy. He took me out to dinner and when he would bring me home just give me a peck on the cheek. He said he wanted to take it slow so we could get to know each other. I didn't get any weird feelings when I was around him. All these years of living in a big city I thought I was a good judge of character. Guess not. He had me on that ship for days. Doing horrible things to me. He thought that he had broken my spirit and decided to leave me on board after docking the boat to get more food and supplies. I was so scared he said he would make me pay if I made a sound. I knew this may be my only chance. I heard him leave and looking out the window he was walking away from the boat dock. When I couldn't see him any longer and I heard people walking by I kicked the small window with my foot. Although it hurt so bad from the gashes the glass left, I could hear people talking and saying something about the blood. So I tried to get my tied up hands out of the window, once they saw that a couple of people climbed on board and saved me. They were able to get me away from the boat before he returned. Someone called the police and he was arrested after trying to flee. They asked for my statement as I was recovering in the hospital. I told them everything. I broke down so many times, I didn’t think I would be able to get through it all. Now I live with a restless mind and a lonely soul. I don’t know what my future holds but I won’t let anyone stop me from coming to my favorite place. Although this is the nightmare I live with every day and every night. I will not let it continue to control me, I will find a way to get my light back.

Just another day at work
Just another day at work By Tange Cox Marie left the house for the 2nd time that day. Every time she got in the car she would remember something else. Before she left the house she tried to see if there was anything else she could be missing. Once she got into the car and looked at the clock she realized she had 45 minutes before work. She had just enough time to stop by the convenient store and grab a couple scratch-offs. She decided to splurge today and pick an $20 and $30. She felt positive about these scratch-offs probably because she had a dream about winning. She pulled into the police station with 10 minutes to spare. Enough time to scratch them off. She scratched off the first one and it gave her $20 back, when she scratched off the 2nd one she did it with her eyes closed. When she opened them she realized she had missed scratching one of the areas. She scratched the bonus area and it said $20,000 winner. She couldn’t believe it. She wanted to scream but didn’t want to draw attention to herself. She put it inside her extra black notebook she kept in her car. She got out of the car with a smile on her face. Her shift started in less than 5 minutes. She hoped she didn’t get partnered with Pierce because he would talk her ear off.
