Where’s the Fire?
Three people sat in the ancient Wilmington, Delaware theater. Gas lamps lit the place. The multi-billionaire Kellia “Sellz” Millken had rented the movie house to have a private oasis with her boyfriend rapper James “Hark” Wesley. They both had an affinity for silent movies. On this day, they watched a classic from 1927 titled Away, Away.

Marine Corps Stories: Chief of the Boat
The tight space aboard the submarine provided a theater for the lead senior enlisted actor to deliver his speech. “We’re in a place where we’re going to fight until the last bit. We can give our best, and that might not be enough. But god dammit we’re going to fight against this sea. We’re out in the arctic. They’re going to search for us no matter what. Our role is to keep morale as high as possible. I know that things seem bleak.”

African America
The ocean looked like silvery, metallic soup. The beaches in Lewes, Delaware were made of sand so hot in the sun they blistered the feet. The waves lapped upon the shore, then rushed back out with a whooshing sound. The saltiness of the ocean brought to mind fish guts and offal. A ship appeared on the horizon.

The Darknesses: An Elegy for DMX
Earl Simmons deserved better in life. He had talent by the boatload. He created a base of supporters in the millions with his original sound, and held audiences of thousands in the palm of his hand wherever he performed. He rapped, but he really was more of a bluesman with Timberland boots and a bandana, cocked to the side at just the right angle on his bald head.

A white van rumbled by and parked a few yards away from the house. Calloway Simms saw this and shrugged.

Marine Corps Stories: Decent
From the outer glass they waved. The Small Wonder Living Community in Newark, Delaware featured the families of the couple. Masks covered faces making the onlookers look like they were preparing to conduct lab experiments. The couple inside smiled and waved.

First Date Flight
The personal jet sat on the runway in New Castle, Delaware. Twenty-four year-old Wilmington hedge fund manager Lenden Sill fumed. Lawyer Karita Virtanen sat across from him while his oak-colored skin soaked up the sun. Her own skin glowed white in the early morning rays. They fussed.

The Wine Machine
“But this isn’t Breaking Bad,” Dr. Waddell Lin said. “And I’m not Jesse,” Jillian Garnett said. Lin laughed. “Hand me those two beakers over there, please. If you want to earn your doctorate, you’re going to have to first complete this formula for our first date,” the doctor said. “Take that ethanol and water.”

Start
It was 1884, in Dover Delaware. Ella Mae Cash, forty-two, and Reno Willard, fifty-three, were playing dominoes at Willard’s tavern. Willard had brought the Merlot, and was pouring Ella Mae a glass when she remarked,“It’s finally Juneteenth,” she smiled before taking a sip of the red wine.

You See, the Trick Is....
“How do we reach it?” Kalisa John asked. Her new beau, Mannix Malveaux, stood beside her. On their first date, they decided to master a Dover, Delaware escape room. The prize was five thousand dollars each, a gourmet dinner, and a bottle of Merlot.
