Bitten by Reality
Christophers Cantwell and C. Rogers created a show of such emotional depth and creativity but it’s a shame Halt and Catch Fire (2014-2017) ran for only four seasons. Its overtones of the tug-o-war between the principal cast seemed like the tension found in the Academy Award-winning film The Social Network (2010).

Young Blackbird
Light glimmered off of the glass. It was empty. Relaxation abounded. The young lady was not on time. Devo Claxton wore a camel hair jacket with a pink collared shirt and cufflinks. A white tie and tan corduroys completed the ensemble. He inhaled B12. He checked his phone. No texts or other notifications. He was like a stranger. He found himself stranded in the restaurant. He looked around at the upscale decor.

The Lights of Urban Blight
“Best to not underestimate Saint. The boy’s brain still eeworks. That's [a] problem enough.”—Manboy from Snowfall In the show Snowfall (2017-), the main character Franklin Saint (Damson Idris) peddles his wares. Those wares happen to be kilograms of cocaine. During the mid 1980’s in Los Angeles, California, the increase of narcotics in ghetto areas was the metaphor for the show’s title. the white powdery substance was turned into crack for the first time, and created a different kind of snow-emergency.

Marine Corps Stories: Merlot on Mars
Night enveloped the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. A bottle of Merlot sat on the table on the grounds of the Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) unit. Cookie cutter architecture made each of the houses look the same. Fortunately for Marine Captain Kwame Beeson, and Airman Major Delina Dargis, they sat outside under the stars on the patio of their government issued house.

Robert L. Johnson
Enamored with television and the potential power it held, Robert Louis Johnson envisioned a network all his own. That channel would one day be Black Entertainment Television or B.E.T. After graduating from Princeton University, he realized his vision and built what would become the first black-founded company to appear on the New York Stock Exchange. In 2002, when he sold BET for $3 billion, he became the first black billionaire in American history.

John H.Johnson
As a small boy growing up in Arkansas City, Arkansas, John Harold Johnson nurtured big dreams. You might think having darker skin than other children would have held him back from achieving those dreams, but you’d be wrong. He was undeterred by potential obstacles like race and poverty. He followed his dreams, and found a way to go from government assistance as a child, to the Forbes list of 400 richest Americans as a grown man.

The Truest: Why a Game Should Include King Leopold II
Most people would say the ruler of the Third Reich killed many people, but few people would utter the name of King Leopold II. This man never entered the Congo, but was responsible for the deaths of 10 million people there and more.

Throwing Away the Cusp
I was born on June 21, 1988. That means I entered into this life on the Cusp of Gemini and Cancer. What does all of this mean? Absolutely nothing. Comedian, writer, and director Chris Rock gave the perfect horoscope when he said: “Aquarius... you’re gonna die. Capricorn... you’re gonna die. Gemini, you're gonna die twice! Leo you’re gonna die.”
