The Dragons Watching Over Us
Chapter I: Our Time Has Come There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. It was a sign of the times, unfortunately. At least we had someone on our side to protect us from the blatant attempt of a government takeover that this country had been facing. We desperately needed a group like The Dragons, made up by the citizens; for the citizens. They could be compared to the American soldiers in Germany during World War II, except all civilians. Civilians who were going against our own government in order to protect our individual rights.

The Lads
Where It All Began “What the hell happened here guys?” Mike said, laying his head in his hands. “How could one night get so out of control that you all could let something like this happen?!” he said, holding back his tears. Mike was fighting off showing his emotions. Usually, anger would come into play, but not today; not in a situation such as this. The lads all came to him for help. He was basically their leader; if anyone could help them it was him.

The Escape
"Shh!!! He's gonna hear you. Stop doing that! If he hears you, then he'll definitely find me, girl, and that's the last thing I need. Not after getting this far!", Eve said to the gorgeous horse she was trying to steal for her final escape. She was going to wait it out for the owner to fall asleep and take off with the horse. It would be much quicker than trying to make it out of the state on foot. She wasn't going to risk being seen by her boyfriend; if you could call him that.

My Personal Solace
Have you ever taken a moment, by yourself, to sit and reflect? Not just on other people and what they need you for, but on you. I don't mean you as a person, but your soul. Do you know yourself that deeply? Not many people do. That's probably why most people look so miserable or sad even when they are out in public. I've done this reflection time and time again. Yes, it does help calm me, but the only time I feel true peace is with my music blasting while I do my thing. What's my thing? A lot of things, actually. To sum it into a single category would be to simply call it "Art".

Love You Forever
"I'll love you forever. I'll like you for always. As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be.". Those words hit you so differently as a child as opposed to the way you feel them while hearing them as an adult. Love You Forever, by Robert Munsch has always been my favorite bedtime story. I think what had originally drawn me in was the rhythm that you can't help but to form a flow to every time you utter aloud those very words. The more that same phrase is reiterated throughout the story, the more rhythmic it becomes. Honestly, what toddler or adolescent does not start moving to the beat of almost every song they hear. That also makes it memorable.

Fairytales or Morals
Do you believe in fairytales? Growing up as a child, especially being a female, I absolutely adored fairytales. Though, I constantly dealt with an internal struggle regarding them. I have always loved the idea of falling madly in love with your soulmate and living "happily ever after", but didn't quite understand why the "princess" always needed "prince charming" to come and rescue her. Aren't we teaching our children to become co-dependent if we constantly reiterate that? While being in love is a magical thing that most people do not even get the chance at experiencing, we shouldn't send the message that a man needs to "rescue" you from life to make your life have meaning. Sorry, Mr. Disney, it's 2021.

Holmesburg
"Hey, You dropped this!" Mick yelled out, running toward Persephone with a tiny heart-shaped locket dangling from his hand. "Oh my God!!! I would have never made it back through these walls without my Pop with me.", Persephone said with the biggest smile beaming from her face. Since the day she had broken into the old prison, once she realized what was happening, she swore that the only reason they were all still alive was because of that little locket. Her two boys had given it to her on the first Christmas after she had lost her father. It meant the world to her and she felt it gave her some sort of protection since the day the world seemed to flip upside down. After all, at a time like this, you have to believe in something or you'll never make it.

Are You Not Entertained?!
"If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life". This is probably the most prolific and life altering quote, yet most people have never even heard it before. Marc Anthony, who fought under Julius Caesar and was known for being Cleopatra's lover, goes down in history as the man who vocalized this mere thought. No truer words were spoken as to when he had decided to proclaim this very thought aloud for someone to make note of. Could this just be the key to happiness that so many of us desperately long to find? Show me one person who followed their heart by pursuing their passion in life, whatever it may be, that doesn't seem genuinely happy to be doing that for the rest of their lives. The thing is, if it's truly your passion and you enjoy it that much, could you even call it work? No. Not at all. Most people leave school and start working. They take what seems like the best option at the time because, hey, you have to live right? Somebody has to pay the bills. That should make you just want to pursue your true passion more! The problem is, most people stay in that "option" of a job and never continue to pursue their real passion. It's quite sad really. What if you were different though? What if you had the chance to succeed at your life's passion? You do. If that's what you truly want to do, then you'll find a way.

The Walk
March 31, 2009 It started off like any other Tuesday. 5:44 a.m. and the music starts blasting. Sharon sprung up, turned the coffee pot on, and proceeded to the bathroom for her shower. After that, she wakes up her fiancé, Don, followed by her 3 year old son, Mikey, for a quick breakfast before they all run out the door for the day. She has to take Mikey to the sitter, Dana, and drop Don off at work before going into the bank to start her own work day. Dana, who is also Don's sister, was Mikey's babysitter at the time. She was a total lifesaver.

Scrapbooking : It's Actually Not So Lame
Have you ever wanted to travel? My entire life, 36 years and 5 months, I have always dreamed of traveling. I want to travel the world. I strongly believe that I will someday. Hawaii, Ireland, Germany; the list goes on and on. Daydreaming during class, as a little girl in Croydon, Pennsylvania, of the far away places I would voyage to. My days would be filled with the most eccentric locals. I would spend hours listening to their history. Not just the country's history, but each individual's story; their own, personal graphic novel . I could not wait until I was outside of those decrepit walls of my local Roman Catholic Grade School and able to roam this beautiful land. I wanted to explore and learn about anywhere imaginable, but life doesn't always go the way we dream.
