An exciting 1-0 pitcher’s duel, the game broke open on a controversial ground ball up the middle, and John Jay ended up on the wrong end.

Somers Chases the Ghosts Away in Upset Victory over John Jay
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons below Crowd Shots Over the last several seasons, John Jay and Somers have met in some pretty big games, and the Wolves always seem to have the Tuskers’ number. So a 2-1 first period lead for the home team looked like business as usual. But the determined, resolve of this group of girls had no interest in a history lesson.

After First Round Win Over Nanuet, Somers is Ready for John Jay

A 4-0 first quarter lead for the home team set the tone, and the 17-6 victory left John Jay in wait. Of course, the end will inevitably come, but despite a destination of Notre Dame, Sydney Ingraham isn’t leaving the past and present behind so easily

Somers Season Comes to an End on No Hitter
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons or my venmo is : @Rich-Monetti Mahopac at Somers Video After defeating Carmel to advance to the quarterfinals, Somers took a short trip to Mahopac and in facing Nick Masciarelli on the mound, the Tuskers were hoping for a direct route to the final four. Not quite, the Mahopac starter completely jammed the Somers GPS signal. “Their guy is legit, we couldn’t get anything going,” said Coach JT Genovese after the winning pitcher threw a no hitter. But Somers didn’t help themselves either in the 3-0 loss.

But a bloop RBI single in the fifth, a home in the sixth and four straight hits in the sixth suddenly had the game feeling way too close for comfort. Out went Mitch Hammer, Jack Garneau entered with one thing on his mind. “I wasn’t going to let the seniors go out like that,” said the reliever, and backing up the boast started with a slow bouncer to short.

The bottom of the seventh, the situation did feel mildly tenuous. So when a pop foul crept up alongside the Somers dugout, Katherine Papa wasn’t taking any chances.

But the player at X has more than one sister on this team, and in a very specific case, no synergy is lost to the fact that the duo doesn’t share chromosomes.

Increase Miller Community Reaches for the Stars with Production of Moana Jr.

With her family and cousins in one corner, she said, “I was trying to hold back my smile.” But the audience didn’t have a chance in that regard, and the lead actor’s mom expressed the inevitable extension of the joyous sentiment.
