But her tenacity wasn’t the only thing that the softball player left behind.

But not one Somers runner needed to cross the finish line, because they were all winners already.

Still, the Tuskers came out to play and drove all the way down to the Yorktown 11. A little short, they turned the ball over on downs, and Yorktown mostly took it from there.

John Jay Wins 2-1 Pitcher’s Duel versus Somers
Brooke Slideshow Video On Thursday May 1, John Jay and Somers battled to a 1-1 tie after seven and Riley Foote had the first crack at settling the score in the eighth. “It was a nice sound,” said the second baseman. But her game winning home run wouldn’t have been possible without the grit that John Jay sent to the mound.

Very one sided in recent years, the Tuskers were typically not pushovers, and the game remained in doubt throughout. But John Jay still only knows one storyline when it comes to their friends down the road.

The last time in the seventh inning when the sun was no help to the right fielder, the junior wasn’t looking for charity from the scorekeeper. “No, that was an era,” he assured. But there was no discrepancy in regards to the third inning smash that got the Tuskers started.

Not so fast, a few walks and a series of Ardsley singles, it was suddenly a 12-6 game. And a leadoff walk in the bottom of the sixth looked like the whirlwind was going to continue, but catcher Steve Carozo saw the way out.
