Very one sided in recent years, the Tuskers were typically not pushovers, and the game remained in doubt throughout. But John Jay still only knows one storyline when it comes to their friends down the road.

The last time in the seventh inning when the sun was no help to the right fielder, the junior wasn’t looking for charity from the scorekeeper. “No, that was an era,” he assured. But there was no discrepancy in regards to the third inning smash that got the Tuskers started.

Not so fast, a few walks and a series of Ardsley singles, it was suddenly a 12-6 game. And a leadoff walk in the bottom of the sixth looked like the whirlwind was going to continue, but catcher Steve Carozo saw the way out.

A shutout that wasn’t necessarily a surprise to Evan Outwater. “We’re playing a lot harder competition this year,” he said. But the shots were still crisp and the rallies long, and despite the final tally, there was more to it for the Wolves.

Somers Chistens New Softball Field with 4-0 Victory Over John Jay

A brand new field, Coach Theresa Ricci had no problem justifying the work of art. “The girls have worked so hard for this and deserve something as beautiful as this,” she assured. In return, the Tuskers showed their appreciation.

John Jay Overcomes Difficult Start in Victory Over Sleepy Hollow

Walking in three in a four run first inning, Foote’s difficulty didn’t have Coach Steve DelMoro the least bit worried that half his starting rotation would be a question mark going forward. “One hundred percent,” he assured, “I have all the confidence in the world in her.” But it was still first things first, and Maria DeGaetano made sure the Horseman knew no one was looking ahead yet.

Somers Chase Falls Short versus Fox Lane

Down 4-0 this time, the girls still didn’t give in and eventually took a 9-8 lead. But the chase wasn’t over.

John Jay Wins Big Over Eastchester

Two sputtering drives, the girls had the luxury thanks to the defense. “Playing aggressive, putting pressure on the quarterback, forcing errors, that’s what we’ve been doing,” said Head Coach Jimmy Clark. And after Eastchester was the latest to find out, the John Jay offense caught up to the defense for good on possession three.
