Rachel Reviews: The List of My Desires by Grégoire Delacourt
My Kindle died and I needed a short paperback to read. This book fitted the bill, having fallen behind the bookcase and been discovered during some long needed Spring cleaning. Dusted off, I started reading and found a little piece of treasure.

Rachel Reviews: Fiona's Fury by Roxy Blue
Ah, we all love a good love story, don't we? And when it's one where a feisty female who seems to be forever destined to have a life revolving around work, her ex-husband and her best friend suddenly is presented with the chance of romance, as a reader, you can't help but hope that it all works out for her.

A Million Tiny Diamonds. Runner-Up in The Metamorphosis of the Mind Challenge.
There are always moments that define you as a person. We have been conditioned to never admit to weakness because, in the shame of bad judgement, the metaphorical fingernails of others can get a hold on you from the chink you've exposed by sharing your confession. You can then be prised open, your vulnerability there for all to see, to be poked and prodded mercilessly by a metaphorical stick held and being controlled by the will of another. And what would be the result of that poking? It would let the shame out, the dampener and the twister of all emotions which transforms people into ogres, which we try and subdue, putting it into the darkest corners of ourselves.

Rachel Reviews: The Axeman's Jazz by Ray Celestin
The draw of the book is arbitrary, is it not? In this case, the cover and the title spoke to me. The Axeman's Jazz is just begging for more questions to be asked, don't you think? Who is the Axeman and why Jazz? As a result of this, I decided to purloin this book on a whim and I wasn't disappointed.

Rachel Reviews: Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney
Sally Rooney has been on my radar after watching Normal People on the TV, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Actually, enjoyed is probably not the right word as that implies fun and lightness, but as with Conversations with Friends, her stories are not really what I would call easy: they are close examinations of the intricacies and complexities of relationships and the people involved in them and I have to say that she depicts these very well.
