Mahiloŭ - 1982
That’s another set of postcards from Belarus I was lucky to find at “Dry Bridge” – a famous flea market in Tbilisi, Georgia. The photos take us back in time to Mahiloŭ, let’s see what it looked like in the 1980-s!

The apocalypse in Brest-Litovsk
The First World War brought massive destruction to Belarusian cities, towns and villages. One of the most devastating examples was the city of Brest-Litovsk, which burnt to the ground because of the Great Fire in 1915. The aftermath of the disaster was well-documented: there are plenty of photos and postcards which depict the ruins of what had been a prosperous city before.

The lost heritage of Belarus. St.Alexei church.
Belarus lost many architectural masterpieces in the disasters of the 20th century. A number of them were destroyed in the First World War, even more in the Second. In addition to that, the Bolsheviks destroyed dozens of churches, monasteries and other religious buildings that didn't correspond to the communist ideology.

Minsk-80 Summer Olympics
When travelling abroad, I always try to visit local flea markets. It’s good chance to get something for your collection and at a reasonable price. If you happen to be in Tbilisi – go to the Dry Bridge, where they sell vintage things every day. I was lucky to find an old set of postcards showing the capital of my home country.
