The Bracken Will Wither
What happens when the looking eye notices you? That was a question Donald Finnegan asked himself as he was transfixed, bent over the door to the old cellar of the bar, where a saline-dripping, large iris looked from side to side before focusing on him. Salt crusted the handle as a thin layer of sea mist rose from under the door. As he knew full well the door led to nothing but an old, unused storeroom and then the thick back wall of the bar, he put it down to the whisky. He fell backwards, turned away, and ignored it. Daft bastard.

21 Rejections Down and a New Goal
As many here will know, on November 10, 2025, I started trying to share my work beyond Vocal and self-publishing. Inspired by my good friend Stephen A. Regards, RIP. Content Warning.
Dearest Graham, By the time you read this, it will already be too late. For you. I have been wanting to write to you for a long time now. But so often, when I try to write what I wanted to say, I stumble over my words and then scrap the draft completely. You see, you were my everything for so long. I mean that very literally, as you damn well know. I had been isolated slowly and gradually from all of the people who loved and cared for me. That was your sly and calculated plan all along, wasn’t it?

We Eat Our Young
paintings can't hurt you... beware — selfish man and gods for we eat our young. * Thanks for reading! Author's Notes: Another horrorish haiku for the Haunted Echoes challenge. This time, after several poems inspired by paintings by Picasso, Brueghel, Friedrich, Raphael, and Caravaggio. This time it is Goya who can play as muse to this writer, me, while also scratching his itch.
