Thanks for reading!

Author's Notes: Another horrorish haiku for the Haunted Echoes challenge. This time, after several poems inspired by paintings by Picasso, Brueghel, Friedrich, Raphael, and Caravaggio. This time it is Goya who can play as muse to this writer, me, while also scratching his itch.

You're whetting our appetites for more ghoulish stories and poems to come, as Mark has pointed out. Nicely done, Paul

How do you write so many pieces?! I mean, I just don't come on Vocal for a couple of days and I can't catch up with your works :D

  • Not sure if that painting is supposed to be funny but I laughed hahahahahahaha. Loved your poem!

“Saturn Devouring His Son” is one of my favorite paintings (I’m twisted, I know). This poem complements it very well, especially the second and third lines. A chilling reminder of how people in power abuse their power over the weak and vulnerable.

This is a disturbing reminder of the world's cruelty in general, but especially to children. It definitely comes off as a wholesale condemnation of civilization. But I know, your role as both gadfly and iconoclast demands it and you fulfill both with aplomb. The Goya painting is a garish touch. No artist that I know so effectively portrayed human cruelty. He did a series of etchings of the horrors of war. Not for the faint of heart, I can tell you. Is this for a challenge - your obligatory effort to put the Vocal judges off their feed?

I love how thought provoking this is, how you tied it to selfish men and the layer that adds to this myth

Seems you are gearing up for the Halloween type creativity in a way. What type of ghoulish stories do you plan to write for us this year. Good job and enjoy the dinner.
