The Joy of The Penguin Café
Introducing The Penguin Cafe Orchestra and Simon Jeffes Many years ago I saw a video featuring penguins and loved the music that was used as the soundtrack. The piece was “Beanfields” by The Penguin Café Orchestra, who up to that point I had been totally unaware of.

A Pride of Lions
The Stonewall riots (also known as the Stonewall uprising or the Stonewall rebellion) were a series of spontaneous demonstrations by members of the gay community in response to a police raid that began in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in the Greenwich Village neighbourhood of New York …

My Rules of Engagement With Vocal
Initial Observations on My Vocal Writing I was looking at my figures for posts, reads, and engagement with others. My attitude is that in the model I am in you cannot expect people to just read your posts without any kind of exposure and engagement, although link bombers seem to think that will just happen if they have a title like “How To Make $1000 a day on Medium / Vocal”. Ironically my biggest read Vocal post is the one below which was a sort of clickbait experiment based on the most-read piece on my blog, and has had over a thousand reads.

Love Is All Around
I heard a couple of songs over the weekend “Love Is All Around” the Troggs cover by Wet Wet Wet used to play out “Four Weddings And A Funeral” and “Everything I Do, I Do It For You” by Bryan Adams from the film “Robin Hood Prince of Thieves”. Yes they are romantic and made me think of someone very important to me, just the feeling I got from them.

Do Vinyl Records Inspire Original Creation?
About Vinyl Records This piece is going to be an oddity because a couple of songs came to mind that I wanted to share, but there were not enough songs to create a playlist. Below is my history of recorded media that you may find interesting as it has some of my opinions, but I have recently complained that the sole attempt at originality for modern vinyl releases is colored vinyl of picture discs, which while they can be interesting, most of the time that is where it stops.

The “L” Shaped Wound
A Warning Prologue If you are squeamish or cannot deal with hospital stuff, there is nothing explicit in here but sometimes your imagination can take you places you would rather not go to. I don’t mention any names here but there is the main group of three consultants who made this happen, they are all world-class and I am so lucky to be in the right place for this treatment.

Julia Dream
Yesterday I was listening to my vinyl copy of “Relics” by Pink Floyd and the song “Julia Dream'' came on and made me want to write a poem in the same vein with the same title. This is not about anybody but is for everybody. I know Julia , Julie , Juliet and Juli and probably many more with a similar nomenclature.

500
My 500th Vocal Story Although this is a slight cop-out, I am writing a much bigger and more important piece, but I didn't want it to mark my 500th story on Vocal. So I have decided to write a butterfly cinquain to mark the occasion to just say why I am still writing on Vocal and to thank all my friends in the Vocal Facebook groups that I will list at the end who have given me love and encouragement continuously to keep writing both poetry and prose. Thank you so much, my friends.
