Traditions (Chapter 11). Content Warning.
Chapter Eleven ‘About what comes next.' Yes. That’s what he’d said just before he drifted off to sleep last night. And then I spent most of the rest of the night tossing and turning as Charlie’s words seemed to rattle around in my brain for most of it.

Traditions (Chapter 9). Content Warning.
Chapter Nine I have heard it said that you never forget your first, and after making love to Charlie that first time I knew that it was most definitely true. That look on his face as I unloaded in him for the very first time will be something that I know will live with me forever.

Traditions (Chapter 7). Content Warning.
Chapter Seven After seeing off my family, Charlie and I retreated to the relative safety of my old bedroom, while my parents and Toby busied themselves elsewhere in the house; my parents cleaning up in the kitchen, and Toby tackling the delicate process of piecing together one of the model ships he had been given for Christmas.

Traditions (Chapter 6). Content Warning.
Chapter Six No sooner had Stuart left us, than I collapsed onto my bed, with my head in my hands. Traditions (Chapter 4). Content Warning.
Chapter Four It was after eleven when we left the mountain, just after my mother had tried to call while Charlie and I had still been deep in discussion. I had sent a text to say we would meet them at the church, and so, after heading back down the mountain and returning to Charlie’s place, where we quickly changed, we then took a short walk to the small country church. It was only a block away from Charlie’s house and we arrived with just minutes to spare, finding my mother and Toby waiting impatiently by the front gate as other parishioners filed inside.

Traditions (Chapter 3)
Chapter Three There is something comforting about having traditions in our lives, I have to admit. Something about them that gives structure to our lives. Stability. Especially when we find ourselves facing the most challenging of times.

The week before Christmas didn’t feel like Christmas at all. It felt dry. It felt like heat. And it felt like yet another new start in another new town, as sixteen-year-old Cameron Lewis watched the removal van back into the driveway of his family’s new home, being guided into the yard by his bank-manager father.

Stockroom Secrets 22. Content Warning.
Mum and I just looked at each other, both unsure as to what we should do or say next. In the end it was mum who came to her senses first and went to him, dropping to her knees and wrapping her arms around the man I knew she still loved.

Stockroom Secrets 21. Content Warning.
It was just as the ambulance officers were looking me over in the back of their van and the police were questioning my boss and workmates that my mother arrived, speeding up the ramp and coming to a screaming stop beside the police car, before climbing out and hurrying across to the ambulance.
