The Ever Present Past
If I could have been born in another era, it would have to be in 19th-century France. In particular, I would love to have been living at the time of post-impressionism, as a contemporary of artists such as Van Gough, Degas, Monet, Cezanne, Renoir, and Seurat.

This morning the news media released pictures of significant parts of the wreck of the Titan submersible, recovered from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. Welcome To Your Local English Academy
As a highly qualified and hugely experienced teacher of English, it has never failed to amaze me how many bullshit merchants manage to make a successful career in teaching knowing next to Sweet Fx@k All about anything, let alone the English language. Talk about fake it 'til you make it!

Voyage to the Bottom of the Ocean
Having become more than a little obsessed with the recent event of the loss of the Titan submersible, it occurred to me, as I am sure it has to many others in Hollywood, that here is a ready-made plot for a movie. A Japanese Miracle Has Taken Place
Ok, now I have your attention, without wishing to cause any offense to any Christians amongst you, what happened here does not in any way, shape, or form, rank alongside walking on water, turning water into wine, or rising from the dead. It is nevertheless, quite miraculous in my eyes.

Welcome To The Real Japan.
In the land of the rising sun, not everybody lives in a small house and eats sushi. These are just two of the myths propagated by those who in fact have very little or no experience of living in Japan. In fact, these perceptions of what Japan is really like are so far wide of the mark, it would take a library of books to explain how much more there is to Japan. So we have to be very careful of sweeping generalizations. Personally, I prefer to keep an open mind and speak as I find.

The Theft of Creativity
After sixty years as a creator of all manner of arts-related projects, one of my pet peeves is other people taking credit for what I have created, or for what I have played a big role in helping others to create. It is a lot more common than you might think.

I Could Have Been A Contender
The Swinging Sixties, what an amazing decade! The Beatles, JFK, Man on the Moon... In 1964 I was ten years old and I heard my first Beatles record, 'She Loves You', I immediately wanted to be one of the Fab Four. Here I am, in 2023, almost sixty years later, and the way things turned out for them, I am so glad I never was a Beatle, though I did get to appear in their video for Free As A Bird, many years later. Still, I yearn for the Swinging Sixties.

The Real Cause of the Loss of the Titan
At this point in time, the majority of the ships that rushed to the Mid- Atlantic, to try to find and rescue the Titan submersible, have left the area. Two ships remain in an effort to get to the bottom of what happened. No doubt the crews of those two ships are raking over the bottom of the ocean for debris, hopeful of discovering the cause of what we now know was a fatal implosion of the vessel.
