Holidays? Holy Days? Pen It To Win It!. Top Story - October 2024.
The Lead-In Are you ready for the upcoming holidays? We're in that stretch of the year where it feels like they're never ending. Christmas decorations are in stores before Halloween costumes have left them. Thanksgiving is around the corner. And that's not even counting the less well-known holidays (at least in America) like Rosh Hashanah. But hey, rather than stress about the presents you haven't bought yet or how to navigate the tumultuous waters of arranging gatherings that everyone can attend, let's have some stories!

Desert Of Sky
The land lay warm and barren beneath my bereft form, and I wondered if I had any chance to make it back alive. They said they’d take me home, but this is no home of mine.

A Cautionary Tale
"There was only one rule: don’t open the door.” Those words still dripped deep crimson down the wall above a pool of congealing blood when I walked into the darkened bunker. To my left, a black door stood ajar, a useless padlock hanging from even more useless metal chains, crushed into a jumble of what was once a metal handle. A drop of unknown liquid dripped into some nameless pool, breaking the silence as I stepped toward that gaping maw of shadow.

Stick A Fork In Me. Content Warning.
The microwave beeped once as I opened it to toss my prepackaged roast and potatoes into its waiting maw. It lay haphazardly on the glass turntable, staring at me balefully as I slammed the door in its face and pushed the quick-start button, number one. The front office door opened and I glanced at it just as William walked in. I nodded an absentminded greeting to him before I realized two remarkable things simultaneously.
