Endless Sun
Everyone remembers the first day of the midnight sun. It was hard to ignore at the end of Daylight Saving Time. When people woke up on Sunday morning, they thought that things were just the way they should be (other nations which had no DST went on as usual). This is what they expected. It was normal. It brought back the sun.

Me and the Misses
You don’t judge us and we won’t judge you, son. You are just passing through and probably want to know more about this place… As I said, my wife and I have lived here all our lives and this place has its ways that some folks might find downright strange and weird, but…we ain’t changing for anyone.

''The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight'' - A Review
It can be strange to consider where you find comfort in times of stress. I found a copy of the book in one of Montréal's Livre-Service boxes, and I found myself consistently dipping into this roman-a-clef as I packed, contacted movers and contemplated another home in this city. It turned out to be an interesting friend that made me laugh, contemplate a city that I have always been obsessed with, and think about how language, even when devoted to pulpy subjects, can fly and soar...

The Move
Note: this is for Real Poetic's challenge (acrostic with the word 'Anniversary'): Extra Note: I am also writing this on the last day before I move out of a place I have lived in for about seven years. I am tired, stressed out, still looking for books and bags, and wondering what my place will be like...

A Day in the Sun
They picked a beautiful day for it. On that weekend, the weather was perfect for anyone willing to spend their time on a body of water that shimmered like a beautiful mirror, under a sun that was not too hot in a bright blue sky, and with hardly anyone else willing to travel out that far to go fishing.

The Wealthy Burglar
As many of you know, I am in the process of changing homes. This has meant a great deal of packing, cleaning up and decision-making over what to toss and what to keep. I have found old photographs and notebooks that I will treasure forever, along with other documents that I wish I had not seen. One such item came from the government. It noted how much money I would receive as part of the national pension plan if I retired in 2022 (it was an old letter). Now, things did not look good then, and they would probably not look too good many years down the road when I actually decided to retire. And the bills are still coming in and the rent will still need to be paid. What to do?

Enumeration Enumerated
I need to explain what I did. When I was in my twenties, I went from job to job very quickly. Most of the money I made went toward a plan to help me all the way through school, although I still managed to waste some of it. Knowing that I could jump from one lousy job to another without much difficulty helped…for a while. I am not sure where this confidence came from, but it did allow me to create a list of over twenty jobs when someone asked how many types of employment I had in those early years.
