Changeling; Chapter 7
Everything hurts and everything is blurry. I think I can see black spots. I can definitely hear voices. I manage to lift my hands to my eyes, attempting to rub the fog from them. My muscles groan in protest, my arms feel so heavy it seems like a minor miracle I can keep them in the air as I rub my eyes. It takes a second for me to realize that my hands aren't bound. By the time I do, the voices have gone silent.

Riptide; Chapter 4
Raven stops beside me on the deck. "Cannons at the ready, Captain." I nod, watching the ensign as they finish reknotting the remaining rigging of the mainmast. If this idea worked, we just might be able to get the fixed sail up. "Are they loaded?"

The Next Death: Chapter 18
Once Gran is up, she claims Dan and me for games. We play until she leaves after lunch. Angel hangs nearby the whole time, calmly flitting about, humming to themselves. I think Charcoal can see Angel considering how every now and then I catch her tracking them with her eyes. She never attacks Angel though, so I think it's okay.

Fox Hunt; Chapter 11
The camp is surprisingly quiet. Those I do happen to see as I dodge between the barracks don't seem too interested in anything around them, and the few nurses and doctors I see with them are too focused on them to notice me. I know I'm nearing the other side of the camp when I spot the fence between the barrack rows. Once I was there, I could slip out over the fence and be gone without anyone here being any wiser. And without any serious exposure. Three more barracks and then I'm in the clear. I check to make sure no one is paying any attention before I start across the next gap.

Reading While Lost
I slowly meander down the hall, the music trailing behind me, like my fingers along the wall. I round a corner, and the music becomes more distant. Along this hall is a double door, one of them slightly ajar. Curious, I look through the crack. I see a sliver of shelves of books. This must be the library. I gently push the door further open. Seeing the room empty, I step in, shutting the door behind me, practically muting the music.

The Chosen; Chapter 5
We all sit in silence in the War Room. High Priestess Leoni and the rest of the temple staff were seeing to the townsfolk. She had promised to be back as quickly as possible. It was fairly obvious she hadn't wanted to be drawn away, but she had to. None of us had said anything since she had left us down here. Not that there was much to say.

Dead Ringers; Chapter 17
Miles's eyes make a careful sweep of the room, stopping on the nurse that currently hovers over Elliot, checking on him. I glance towards the door. The door is shut, but I know that two Night Division officers stand at attention outside the door. When I look back at Miles, he's studying Elliot's chart. It's my turn to watch the nurse as she walks towards the door. The two officers look at her, before looking back to the hall.
