The Best Chocolate Mousse You’ve Ever Had
“Julia Child wasn’t always Julia Child.” I was revisiting the movie Julie and Julia as I was writing this piece for inspiration and one of the characters spoke these words. Julia Child changed everything for us, especially women.

New Beginnings
I’ve found spontaneous decisions are always the best. It was New Year’s Eve and I was about to take a nap and set my alarm for 10pm so I could get up and paint as we crossed into 2025. I had already purchased a nice half bottle of sparkling rose champagne to drink as I danced on my canvas.

Fifty and Fearless
Every year on December 31 the clock strikes midnight and we think about what we want next. In years past for me it might’ve been a weight loss or running goal. Perhaps it was to write more. Read one book a month; start a blog. Land that part-time job at the art studio I had my eyes on and reconnect to my art. While these have all been monumental goals through the years, this year feels very different. This year I’m hitting a milestone in my journey.

Echoes Of Kindness . Runner-Up in Letters of Gratitude Challenge.
Dear Stranger, You probably don’t remember me but I remember you. I was about 16 or 17 years old. It was a really hot summer day. I ran out of gas at the top of a hill in Montgomery Village, MD. This was long before cell phones. You were a boy of about 10 years old and you were riding your bike nearby when I was pulled to the side of the road. You found out I was out of gas. You rode your bike home, got gas in a container and biked uphill in the heat to bring it to me. You were sweating and pedaling so hard up the hill to get that gas to me. I remember thinking what a complete hero you were.

Caffeine and Chemistry
I had a Facebook memory pop up today from 2022 that I think about often. Even though today is 9/8, I clearly remember this moment from 9/9. It stood out to me because it was a portal day, and Mercury had just gone into retrograde. I was in reflection with a current love interest that felt SO over.
