It's in the eyes...
The mirror showed a reflection that wasn’t mine. While washing my face I leaned in closely to the mirror to gaze deeply into my own eyes. I felt like the skin suit I was wearing wasn’t really mine and for a split second, I thought the image looking back at me was someone else. I quickly pulled back to clear the absurd thoughts running through my head. Why was I thinking like that?

The train to hell
Jack was gently cradled by a consistent rocking back and forth motion and the sound of intermittent tracks beneath him. His eyes felt heavy and were difficult to open. When he drew his hands to his face, he realized his hands were bound together and his eyes were covered in tape. Slowly peeling back the tape from his eyes, he could feel the hair from his brow and lashes pull from the skin. Squinting his eyes from the light within the cabin, he quickly began blinking to clear his vision.

A Souls Treasure
Exhausted from planning, hosting, and throwing the biggest birthday bash for my best friend Kelly, I could not wait to take off my shoes, sit back, vegetate, and hit a fatty. Turning 40 was a big deal for Kelly, and she planned on getting polluted. Every time I turned around, she had another drink in her hand, and she was blasted out of her mind from drinking. She must have swallowed every shot she could name. I knew she would go down fast, it was 2:00 a.m. and I was ready to get the heck out of there. Kelly’s boyfriend carried her out of the Plaza over his shoulders and both of them fell into a cab.

Springtime is my favorite time of year. Its new beginnings, fresh starts, sunshine, love, and smiles. Birds gather to share their goals for the next few months while teaching their young the skills they need to move out. The air is cool, and the sun’s heat peaks at a mere 75°. You can hear the sound of wind chimes playing music through the trees.

Coffee and Apple Pie
Marcie runs from the 24/7 diner screaming out loud for help, but no one is in sight. The low-key diner sits off the road nestled in a tiny clearing with a dim flicking sign erected near the street. As she finds her way to the car, she quickly jumps in dropping her purse. Frantically feeling for the ignition, the key slips in starting the engine. She hears rapid thumping coming from within when she realizes it’s her heartbeat. Glancing up, she sees the hooded man continually stabbing the woman behind the counter. Relentlessly he continues his killing spree until everyone has come to their demise when he recognizes that someone has gotten away. Marcie does not notice that the car has shifted into reverse. Stepping on the gas the car does a 360 squealing and forcing dust into the air. Marcie peeks into the review mirror and sees the hooded man with his bloodied hands up on the glass looking out into the darkness as she peels onto the quiet road.

Fear is an illusion
I find myself climbing a ladder and as I look up, I realize I have so much further to go. I am not afraid of heights, but I am nervous to look down. I only have a few more feet to go before I reach the top when the word “breath” comes to mind. I can feel the warm breath of air release from my mouth as my hands grab onto the next bar of the ladder and my feet push me upwards.

Oh yes, I love this man.
Oh yes, I love this man. I peek through one eye and immediately squeeze them shut again as the brilliant morning light pierces my view. It forces me to roll over, lift my arms above my head, and stretch out on my king-size bed covered in plush pillows. I could lay here her for a while longer, but I don’t want to waste one minute of this glorious day. A feeling of gratitude overcomes me as I take in the energy of the moment. I look around my room filled with beauty and I thank Spirit for allowing me to create this; my reality.

A Letter to My Sister
Dear Sister, Standing in the shadows wasn’t always pleasant, but I looked up to you. You were always full of creative ideas, visions and knew where you were headed. You always knew what you wanted and how to get it. I never had a plan for my life, I never knew exactly what I wanted. I just drifted through my life. You always had the lengthy Christmas list of wishes and I didn’t. I cannot remember a time that I ever wanted for anything. I never had a list, nor did I know how to create one. I still feel that way. I always felt like the outsider looking in at our life and everything that surrounded it.
