The Cottage on the Cliff
I shouldn’t be writing this, it’s just so dangerous. I could always burn the pages when I’m done, but I probably won't. My therapist said it would help me to write it all down. If she only knew. I couldn’t tell her the whole truth, for her own protection. She said she understood, but I doubt it. I was asleep for two days, two! My body ached and my mind was confused, but slowly, all of the memories started to come back. At first it was like a trickle of water, then it turned into a flood, and I was drowning. So maybe this will help, or maybe not. At the very least, it is a good story.

A Date To Die For
Part One – The redeeming qualities of Donald the snake “Hard pass,” said Penny with a short laugh as she flipped to the next profile. She was new to this online dating thing, and so far, she had found more to laugh about than any serious contenders for a date. Why had she listened to that snake Donny? “What an ass,” she whispered as she flipped to yet another profile. She felt a moment of slight sadness, but it soon passed. Donny was her most recent handler and very capable after years of experience. She knew how to handle the ones like Donny, he could be dangerous if you let him. But no one would ever catch Donny trying to check out Penny as she walked away, she made sure of that. Penny knew the man wanted her, and if she was honest, he was handsome. These were not redeeming qualities in the man and his behavior could be quite abrasive at times. After two years, Penny had learned only a handful facts about the man; He liked his coffee black, he heartily enjoyed technology, even if he did not always understand it, and he only dated women half his age and often younger. Donny liked to talk but he never really had anything to say. Penny guessed that is what made him so good at his job. He could feed you bullshit all night long and not give you one piece of useful information. He did not learn this skill; he was a natural.

Feral cats in urban environments Research/Survey grant proposal
*Authors Note - I wrote this research paper while I was in college. Since then, we have more scientific data that tells us more about feral cats and the behavior of all cats that spend time outdoors. This was a topic I was passionate about then and that I am still passionate about today. I believe we should all, as pet owners, be responsible pet owners. Limit the time your cat spends outside if you can and have your dogs and cats spayed or neutered. Sorry not sorry to get all Bob Barker on y'all.

Bridge of Whispers
“The mirror showed a reflection that wasn't my own,” Danny said to himself as he walked back to his car. It was only for a moment, but a moment was enough. The cracked tile and bloody towels were a juxtaposition of the bathroom in which he found himself. He had jumped back in appalled surprise when he glanced up to see a man, a horrific doppelganger, looking back at him. He was dressed in bloody and torn overalls, saliva gleaming in the corners of his mouth. Danny took it all in with a gasp. But before he could compose himself, the reflection had changed back to the sparkling clean tile and neatly folded towels of the employee bathroom. He could not stop thinking about what he had seen. The image of his doppelganger, grotesque and gleeful, kept bursting to the forefront of his mind.
