Vampires of El Norte by Isabel Canas We find ourselves in the 1840s during the Mexican-American War. Isabel Canas takes us on a journey with vampires that breaks out of some of the tired cliches we have been used to. We follow Nena and Nestor, who have a long history and a bit of a complicated romance that follows throughout. That complicated romance, however, is well worth the wait for those of you who might be wondering.

In The Miso Soup By Ryu Murakami This story finds us in the 1990’s Tokyo, Japan. Our main character is Kenji, a tour guide for the nightlife of the city — particularly the sex industry. Of course, he mainly guides foreigners who are seeking to have a good time. Kenji, however, lands a client who is odd, strange, and a bit of a compulsive liar.
