My Unexpected Visitor After 37 years living more than 500 miles away, my father is now living with my husband and me. He invited himself to live with us without asking if I had the space, if my husband had any objections, or if I had any plans. To Fly or Not to Fly Is it a good time to travel? Probably not. As usual, we scheduled our yearly vacation to Europe months in advance. We book our flights, car hire, and hotel through British Airways Holiday. Since we began using them, we’ve had a wonderful experience, so there was no question about re-booking with British Airways (BA). Also, to our advantage, we always buy travel insurance. We learned the hard way it is better to spend a couple of hundred dollars more on insurance than not have any at all.

Our Dog Understands Everything We Say and Here Is How I Know
A Little about Chewy We have a dog. He is a mix between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund, a Chiweenie they call them. His name is Chewy, and he is 9 years old. He was the runt of the pack and has been with us since he was 5-weeks old. For us, he is family, and we treat him like so. Chewy is a smart little guy, and he understands what we talk about. It happened on more than one occasion and here is my proof.

Think Outside the Usual Burger Box with Adler's
Adler’s is Amazing! With hamburgers, we are picky. We no longer eat McDonald's, Burger King, or Wendy’s hamburgers. They do not satisfy our cravings. There are plenty of places that serve hamburgers besides their specialties. But sometimes you just crave a specialty hamburger and not just the plain old BLT or Cheeseburgers sold in every other place. So, where did we eat hamburgers at?

Stepping Out of Our Comfort Zone When away from home and hunger strikes, it is time to stop at a nearby restaurant to fulfill our basic needs. Often, we tend to eat at well-known brand name restaurants but when the waiting time is more than what we’re willing to wait, we opt for someplace different. This was the case with Mamak Asian Street Food.

Dragging our Feet through the Perils of Walmart
Not my Favorite Place to Shop Today I went to Walmart. I don’t shop at Walmart and avoid it at all costs. If I need anything from there, I order it online and have it delivered. It has worked fine. Therefore, when my 81-year-old elderly father asked me to take him to Walmart, I cringed but took him, anyway. I first thought about dropping him off at the store entrance and let him shop while I waited in my car at the parking lot. Then I thought about how unsafe it can be for him. It would be like a baby dangerously crawling around a buffalo stampede, so I opted to go in with him.

Breath In, Breath Out and Stay Calm When Teaching Your Elderly Parents about Technology
YouTube Excitement It’s been a challenging couple of weeks. My elderly father is in town. He is slow-paced in his ways but then again, he’s 81-years-old. Dad is quite smart and even though he is not too knowledgeable about the latest technology, once he learns, he’s unstoppable. A few months ago, he discovered YouTube. It was miraculous for him. As an avid gardener, he began researching anything and everything regarding gardening. Every time I called him, he would give me a lecture on how to fertilize this, and how to water that, and so on.

The Dragonfly Represents Our Loved Ones Visit
The Dragonflies Visit Last night, when we took our dog out to do his business, we came across a dragonfly. I watched as it hovered around the fan's light bulb. It was a big blue dragonfly. I once read that dragonflies were believed to be tied to the spiritual world. According to the belief, these are a sign of a deceased loved one or a guardian angel. I think it’s true because there was no better time than this one to see it.

The Oldest Restaurant in Florida
A Little Bit of History Columbia Restaurant in Celebration, Florida is a Spanish restaurant founded by a Cuban immigrant in 1905. According to their website, it is the largest Spanish restaurant in the world and the oldest in Florida, with the first one opened in Tampa’s Ybor City. They currently have restaurants in Tampa, Sarasota, Clearwater, Saint Augustine, and Orlando (Celebration).

Puerto Rico is Serious about Nipping the Pandemic in the Butt
We Are Ready to Fly As many, if not all of us, we did not travel last year. In fact, it was not until May 2021 when we finally set foot on a plane. Even though we do not watch the news, it is inevitable to see what has been going on during flights between passengers and/or flight crew and tourists in other countries. Regardless of our beliefs, we always follow guidelines and rules while flying and when visiting other countries-just as we would like for tourists visiting the U.S. to adhere to our rules and regulations. So, for this trip, we visited our native island of Puerto Rico.
