Elflock. Top Story - November 2024.
Elflock: a lock of hair, fancifully regarded as having been tangled by the elves My Connection: I have very fine hair that tangles easily. Therefore combing and brushing out matted hair has been a constant routine for me since childhood. I think it would be quite fantastic if those terrible tangles were the work of sneaky mythical creatures. There's something about making the mundane magical that makes me smile, so I hope this poem inspires a grin or two.

The Shadow Doctor
Dr. Harris wasn’t a bad man. Not in his mind anyways. Then why hide in the shadows? Well, his patients at the Perkins County Asylum were not docile creatures and his tactics did not always have soothing effects. He had his own safety to consider and so he kept the lights dim and his face hidden behind a mask of imperceptibility.

Dilettante. Top Story - November 2024.
Dilettante: a person who cultivates an area of interest without real commitment or knowledge, a dabbler in the fine arts My Connection: I enjoy a visit to an art museum as well as the occasional spectating of performance arts, but I’m definitely not a dedicated student of the finer things in life. I feel like I can appreciate them but I’ll definitely never experience them in the way a committed expert does. Even as a writer I’m definitely more of a simple storyteller than a creator of literature.
