M&M Christmas commercial is 25
M&M's and Santa: They do exist You know it's really the holiday season when the commercial airs where the Hershey Kisses play We wish you a merry Christmas and you see the M&M ad where Red and Santa both faint. This classic is now 25 years old and still filled with wonder as Santa Claus is near the tree as Red and Yellow M&M's walk into the room. Red says "He does exist" and Santa replies "They do exist" and both faint. This implies that each believes the other is only a myth until they come face to face.

Mama Mia that's a spicy meatball
Alka-seltzer: A memorable commercial A television commercial came to mind today that I thought was promoting Chef Boyardee Spaghetti and Meatballs. When I looked it up the 1969 ad was actually for Alka-Seltzer. This just shows how the mind can forget some details over a period of 5 decades. The actor in the ad was Jack Somack who was in two Broadway plays, Paris Is Out!, and The Prisoner of Second Avenue.

Fans were happy for them and enjoyed the photos they shared of the lavish wedding. Unfortunately, since they are celebrities their private business is always in the public eye. Fond Memories Linger
Fond memories remain My grandma died in 2010 and I find I am continuously recalling things she said to me over the decades. The recalling of fond memories is now happening with my husband Michael who passed away in March of this year. I'm thankful because I have talked to some widows and widowers who can only remember the hard times now that their husband or wife has passed away, It's amazing how the mind recalls things that were said years or decades ago but I believe these positive words of wisdom are worth sharing. The following are some of the things my husband said that really made me feel good during our marriage. If I recall any more they will be in another article.

Racial history is evolving through ballet
Ballerino: Not what you may have been told Ballerino is an Italian term for a male Ballerina who dances in a major role. When I was a young girl in the 1960s and a teenager in the 1970s men who danced ballet were called "sissy's" which was a code word for being effeminate. I once was at a doctor's office and the little boy I was babysitting began dancing and a receptionist said he had great moves, I replied that perhaps he might one day perform ballet. She made a face and said she hoped he would do something more masculine.

Widowhood 101: Accepting the things we cannot change
Dear widow or widower: The man or woman you loved has passed away. The loss of separation and the pressures from society might make you feel you have something to prove. Newsflash: You don't have to date, have sex or marry again if you really do not want to. If that is your desire there is nothing wrong with it. Loving and missing the person you shared your life with for 30, 40, 50, or 60 years is normal. Grieving is difficult but it is normal. Please don't let others influence you to make decisions you may later regret. You cannot change the fact your spouse has died but you can accept your new status without feeling you must change it.
