This gave me enough time to lose myself in thought while sitting on the uncomfortable iron chair. My gaze was fixed on the tracks—tracks that help people get to where they want to go, to their destinations, to their loved ones, to their dreams.

The Thread of Darkness
It was a sleepless night for him. Maybe because of the hot summer air, or the thoughts that clouded his mind. But he was still determined to get some sleep. He struggled until midnight, tossing and turning in bed with his eyes closed. It happened just as he was starting to drift off. A slight thump... A rush of fear infiltrated his heart, waking him up from his slumber. As he strained his ears to pick up even the slightest change in sound, he realized someone or something was walking toward him. His heart beat faster as the slow, damp feet approached him. The sound stopped just beside his bed. He pushed his face into the bed, his body completely still—his desperate attempt to appear like a lifeless body betrayed only by the up-and-down motion of his pounding heart.

People often ask me, "Why don't you say something?" when they see me staring into nothingness in the middle of a conversation. My reaction to this question has evolved over the years. As a child, it made me feel bad, then as I grew older, it turned into anger, and eventually, into varying degrees of embarrassment.

The Freedom of Invisibility
It happened on my routine way back home, passing by a tall building covered in mirrors. There, at the corner where two mirrors intersected, I paused, aligning myself just right—and unexpectedly, I made a new discovery. If I adjusted my stance just right, I could make myself invisible. This phenomenon, scientifically known as "Mirror Occlusion," occurs when two mirrors meet at a 90-degree angle. The light bounces between them in such a way that parts of your reflection disappear, making you seem invisible. The reflected light fails to reach your eyes as expected. I didn’t know the term, nor did I care. All that mattered was the feeling—I was invisible.
