Linguine al Limone e Polpo
A Girl From SF Hi! My name is Gina Michelle. Welcome to my Blog AGirlFromSF. For as long as I can remember, cooking has been an integral part of my life. My favorite part of cooking has always been eating. I fondly remember being chased out of my Italian Grandma's kitchen with a wooden spoon for eating too many raw ravioli. As an adult, I love taste testing as I go, using the method, a little bit of this and a little bit of that until the recipe comes together. The best part of cooking is combining different flavor profiles. In my humble opinion, the more flavors you combine, the better the meal tastes. I also pride myself on creating affordable recipes with easy-to-find ingredients or pantry staples. If you're new to cooking, I'm glad you're here. My goal is to make cooking a seamless and enjoyable experience. Making great food doesn't have to be expensive.

The Girl in the Window
“The outside world was unknown to her, but she could see a glimpse of it through the window in his room.” Alice was sitting in the park when she read the quote from her novel. The words cut through her like a knife. She was surprised because the cover seemed safe, and the setting was a gorgeous woman surrounded by wildflowers in front of an adorable cottage. It seemed so peaceful and yet there was a reminder in bold triggering words. It brought her back to the torment, the painful reminder of living with the “Prince of Darkness” and his cult following. Her breath deepened, and she could feel the tightening in her chest. She began to look around her surroundings. She needed reassurance that she was safe and that her predator was not close. It was as if she lived in a constant state of fear and panic.

The Girl and The Train
The train’s horn chimes in a double beat as a deep cloud of smoke disperses from the train’s chimney stack as it glides across the train’s tracks. The locomotive is a dark black matte, with a wooden cargo ensuite. The train’s vibrations from the tracks are loud and quick. With the movement intensifying it jolts my body from a deep sleep. My eyes begin to flutter and my head slowly circles as I try to orient where I am. I try to move my body but I realize that my hands are tied behind my back and my legs are bound with rope. My mouth is taped shut with duct tape. I look around and I slowly realize that I’m on a train.

An Old School Watermelon
At the grocery store, I see a canister filled with bright green plump watermelons, which means it’s officially summertime. I get instant nostalgia when I take a big bite of the juicy pink fruit. It reminds me of my childhood and mother kicking my brother and I out of the house. Growing up, if the sun was out, we had to play outside, in fact we couldn’t come home until dinner time.

Dragon's And the Valley
“There weren’t always dragons in the Valley, but there are now.” Regina, the Queen of Starseed, was known in her kingdom as the youngest and only female leader. She rose to power at 16, after the death of father and the disappearance of mother and older sister. Her rulership extended from the Starseed Castle, the Valley, Enchanted Forest, and the Town Village. Regina wanted to lead differently than her father because she found out about a dark family secret. Regina was provocative and intelligent. She cared about her kingdom.

The Real Meaning of a Teacher
What I love most about being an educator is the impact that I can have in someone’s life. As a teacher, you have to have to balance humility while being assertive. Your first priority is to teach the required materials, the second priority is recognizing the social needs of your students and creating an environment for them to thrive.

A Cat Named Squeaks
"Mommy…. Daddy….Where are you?" I called out. I’m scared, hungry, and lonely and I don't like this feeling. I don’t like this at all. Normally when I wake up, my mommy and daddy are there. But today, something feels off. I can’t put my paw on it, but I just know something isn’t right.

Coyotes in the Wild
My fascination with coyotes began when my ex and I would drive out to Stinson beach, to have bonfires, smoke pot, and talk about life. We would always hear coyotes during our night walks. I found their calls thrilling, terrifying, and fascinating.

We Will Always Have Garlic Toast
Italian culture has been ingrained in me since I was born. The major arcana of my culture are cooking and your family. Cooking is how we show our love to our people. My fondest memories are helping my Nonni cook for our weekly family dinner. My Nonni would spend hours cooking so her family could enjoy her meals. It was a big deal for her to let you help. She loved being the center of attention and the older I become, the more I get it. It’s a big deal to be the center of your family and I hope to earn that title one day.
